1990 XJ6 no start

Hi everyone
I have had this car for years. it ran yesterday, Today it wont start. I found a no spark condition and checked the coil it passed all of the coventional Ohms tests but when I put a plug in the end of the coil wire and touched a ground nothing. Coils usually dont go bad instantly and this coil was replaced 4 months ago. should I be looking at something other than the coil

Look at the crankshaft position sensor--very common problem.

Also known as the Crank Angle sensor!.....just in case!
