1999 Jaguar XJ8L (rare longwheelbase), near flawless and rare Alpine Green with light Beige hide. It is immaculate beyond words. Driven 74K highway miles, serviced only at authorized Jaguar dealer, (Ray Catena, Edison, NJ) from new, every service done at each scheduled interval, and I have every documented service record from the dealer, all neatly in a folder. This car has been pampered beyond belief, never winter driven, never smoked in. It looks, drives, smells like a new one. The paint is highly waxed and detailed, Connolleys Hide Food applied to all hide periodically from new! Polished wood trim at each detail interval. Just serviced, and completely detailed in and out this week, oil/filter, Collonite Paste Waxed, hide food applied to hide, etc, etc, etc. Like new Pirelli's on gleaming original wheels kept waxed and free of any curb hits from new. All in all, a lovely example in one of the most sought after Jaguar XJ8L colors! Delivery to your door via truck for expenses anywhere USA. Phone for more photos or information. Priced too low, but we have a new one coming. For the bargain hunter who wants "the best there is". In my garage, detailed to "concours" and under a car cover. Don't miss this one, it's a genuine beauty! Imagine an XJ8L Longwheelbase at this rediculous price, call now, you'll love it, it's perfect! $12,250. I have been a Jaguar enthusiast and restorer for years. I just got involved with this forum. I'm simply selling my 1999 XJ8L to make room for another "collectable Jaguar". Your comment wasn't necessary as I'm ALWAYS ready to help any Jaguar enthusiast out with any tech or cosmetic help I can give.
To further inform you, this particular car will make some lucky Jaguar lover a fine machine at a very good price. You will not ever find one with a comprehensive service record set like this one. I'm selling it to make room for my newest acquisition.
Again, your reply wasn't necessary as I will contine on this forum, ready to help out any Jaguar enthusiast I can. As for the car I have for sale, it will suit the fussiest of buyers, period.

Wow.....what a stunning looking example Gerry......absolutely gorgeous.
One small point that made me cringe for such a nice example was the balance weights on theoutside of the rims
I am sure you will have no problem in selling your vehicle ( obviously loved from day one )
Thanks for posting here and giving one of our members the chance to own such a beautifully kept ride.

I agree with Quil, in that it's disrespectful to join a forum only to sell something. If you're going to do so, at least make it an incredible deal. $12,250 isn't bad, but I'd be skeptical to buy a car with the Nikasil issue. Eventually that engine will go and then you're stuck with a worthless shell.

Once again, I DID NOT JOIN this forum simply to "sell something". I didn't know anything about the forum until recently, BEFORE I thought about selling the XJ8L. I never knew it existed as a matter of fact. So saying that I joined to simply sell a car is not only rediculous but very untrue. I find your comment assinine to say the least. If you don't want or are not interested in this Jaguar, that's OK with me. As far as the engine goes, this car was maintained to the mark using correct oil and oil viscocity. I've seen 1999 Jaguars with 150,000 and more miles, still running on the original engine. This one purrs like a kitten. Perhaps you should look around at some of the "long lived" 1999 Jaguars before making a comment that expresses that ALL 1999 Jaguars will have engine problems. Not all of them do, just the ones that were poorly maintained.
I do not care if you are interested in this car or not, but you do not know me, or the things I've done in 45 years to help other Jaguar owners. Stop trying to "soapbox" your opinions unless you know what you are talking about. I will gladly remove my car from this forum, and resign from it as well, but I see no reason to do this. I will help any Jaguar owner with any expertise I have concerning the marque, and if I do not know the answer, I'll try to find someone who does. Keep your comments in a fair and knowledgable manner. It makes for more fun than dispair.

Hi Miata.........Do not resign from this forum or remove your car for sale as thats exactly what the section is there for in the first place. It benefits owners like yourself that want to sell a well maintained and much loved example of a car that some members may wish to buy. It offers a medium that both prospective buyer and seller can meet, make contact and hopefully conclude a deal thats suitable for both parties.
Hopefully, you'll get involved a whole lot more and exchange info with other members as time goes by.
My fellow mods should know better than to have a go at new members for such petty reasons.
In their defence we do suffer from a lot of new members that may only post once or twice to get some help and then disappear.....that however, is our problem not yours.
Hopefully Miata you'll vindicate yourself as well as me by sticking around and becoming an invaluable member in time to come.

Thanks Jim, I'll stick around. First to offer any advice I may on the subject of Jaguars (and other English marques). And secondly to see that the "soapbox" crowd sticks to keeping their replies intelligent, helpful, and perhaps witty to keep things on a fun basis. I will never try to offend anyone, nor will I ever tolerate being offended. As for my Jaguar for sale, anyone with an intelligent, sunstantial offer that belongs to this forum can most likely put it in his garage. Guess I'll leave it on the forum "fo sale" and stick around for awhile as you suggested. Thanks again,
Gerry

Any joy with the car as yet? Have you tried any other forums or any other methods of sale?

I'm trying to sell a real nice Jaguar to a real Jaguar enthusiast. It has the nicest original paint you ever saw on a 1999 XJ8L, concours is the way to describe the finish. If I get a decent offer I'll sell it, if not, it's fun just having it around, not critical to sell it by any means. Nice cars like it are indeed hard to come by. If it sells fine, if not, I really don't care. I know I'll never find another longwheelbase like it in this condition. I appreciate your replies. I look forward to having some fun on this site, and perhaps share some tech and detailing info with other members. I will admit the "soapbox" crowd that never lends any information but critizes other members are simply not needed on this site. I look forward to seeking new and sharing old information about the Jaguar marque. I'm not a kid, I'm 68 and have owned just about every luxury car there is, belong to The Rolls-Royce Owners Club for 43 years and have lots to share with other members who are intelligent in their replies and are not ready to criticize stupidity. Nice to hear your remarks, thanks again. Look forward to sharing Jaguar topics with other true enthusiasts.

Just bear with us Gerry as we are quite a young site ( age wise ) and young in our attitude and opinions. We do love to mess around and have a laugh as well as hopefully sharing useful hints n tips, posting useful links and pieces of info too.

Yes, Jim, I'm very enthusiastic about cars in general. Besides Jaguars, Rolls-Royces, and Bentleys, I have been involved with the Miata sports cars for many yeas as well. I do not have a photo of my "68 yr old self" with a Jaguar, but here is one of me with 74 Miata owners who I had in Geneva, NY (USA) for a days outing, brunch, toured a mansion and wine toured. It was a day to remember. As I said I have no photo of me with a Jaguar, but this will give you an idea of a very enthusiastic "car guy":

Cool Gerry...........If you have any more why not post it into the mug shot thread located in the off topic section so others can see you, as well as youseeing other members there too. Sorta just gives you an idea of who you are relating to on the forum. Its a bit of fun really but you should check it out.....lol

Just so you know miata, it will be pretty hard to sell your car on this forum, as everyone on here already owns a Jag basically.
And to the comment you made earlier about long lived 1999 xj8s, there's no such thing as a long lived xj8. the oldest xj8 you can find is just turning 10, and a 99 is only 8 years old. Pretty new cars if you ask me...but I'm sure you won;'t have much trouble selling, your car looks great and should last a few more years. However, 12,250 may be a little high, maybe not tho.

OK, if $12250 is seems high to you look around at what's for sale! I'm willing to accept an intelligent, reasonable offer. I don't believe someone interested would find one any nicer, that's for sure. Before anyone thinks $12250 is a bit high, by all means make me an intelligent, fair offer, and I'll put it in your garage, no problem. I need the room for another one due in shortly, otherwise I'd simply keep it. It even "smells" new!!! It's in my storage facility under a car cover. Make me an offer, I could take a bit less, no problem, just don't be rediculous or stupid with a rediculous offer. It'll delight the buyer for sure, and I will sell it for a bit less than $12250, make me an offer.

Soapbox...hmmm thats pretty funny! Good luck! By the way I normally welcome everyone and anyone...I've backed up many people on here that have joined and made quite obsurd first posts but one thing I do not take a liking to is people who come on here and post, and the first thing they post is something for sale!!! I am a person that likes to give new people a chance and I don't like it when people bash new people! On the other hand it is a whole different subject when the first thing someone posts is something for sale! Unfortunately with typing someone cannot tell sarcasm...which there was sarcasm. Also every new member that comes on here and says I've known jag for years I'm this I'm that and than say I'll be coming back to post after the problem or sale of his/her car DOES NOT COME BACK! This frustrates me because I want this site to grow and I want to help out more and more people! I challenge you to do just what you said you will do...COME BACK! By all means don't leave! I don't want anyone to leave but I do want people to respect the forum. Try posting a few times answer some questions and than post that is all I am saying. Earn respect and the thought in other peers heads that you are legitimate and aren't just posting to sell something and rip someone off and move on to the next forum. This is all I am saying! Chances are you may have already sold the product. I know I never trust anyone that freshly joins this forum trying to sell something! You've been on this forum for almost a month now and you have 8 posts! Catch my drift?

Don't get confused Aquill.
He comes on here, asks how to fix his broken WIndshielf Wiper switch, then 20 minutes later put his "Mint condition" car for sale, mentioning nowhere in the for sale ad that the windshield wiper doesnt stop running until u repidedy turn the car on and off, and that it needs a new relay.

This 1999 Jaguar XJ8L has been sold. The first person who came and saw/drove it bought it. It was indeed a fine one, having only a relay replaced to get the windscreen wiper working as it should. I also had it inspected and serviced prior to the new owner taking delivery. It was perhaps one of the nicest longwheelbase cars of that year I have ever seen. It could have won at any Jaguar show cosmetically, as it was kept in "concours" condition by the first owner and again by myself. With every service document done by the selling Jaguar dealer, it made it this much better, as all components needing upgrading or replacement were done at each service interval, and the oil/filter changed each 3000 miles. Indeed hard to find one fanatically maintained like this car was. Should any of you ever need my assistance regarding cosmetic care of your motorcar, feel free to call me. With 45 years of experience with these cars, I'm willing to share what I know. Again, the car is "SOLD", and believe me, it was worth every dime of $12,250, I've never seen a better one. I hope the one I have coming to replace proves to be as good!!

Good on you Gerry. Didn't take long to go did it?
You never said when your replacement is comming?
Hopefully you'll stick around as you'll still be owning a Jag and take an active part in the forums and possibly help out with some of the technical queries that you may be able to help resolve.
Cheers

Yes Jim, I'll be sticking around. I had my eye on a gorgeous 2003 XJ8 in black, but now there's a nice Jaguar Convertible that crossed my path, a bit older but in prestine condition...decisions, decisions. At least in upstate NY (Geneva, in the heart of The Finger Lakes), we get the chance to buy a rear drive Jaguar for less when it starts snowing, as most Jaguar owners here have a front drive or 4X4 winter car. Winters here are indeed brutal. Whatever Jaguar I choose will never see a snowflake, I garage my important cars, drive a front wheel drive car till Easter.
I'll continue helping members all I can, and as soon as my new one is in the garage, I'll let you hear about it for sure, Nothing like a Jaguar...and the fine folks that own/cherish them.

Hey miata you want a nice car for a real real good price try checking out texascarsdirect.com, cars in texas don't get salt and all of the cars they have that I've seen for the last year have been spotless...recently they had and probably still have a 05 s-type R with like 40-50k miles but it has the warranty and all they want is like 26k! Seriously though go check out their rides...

Thanks, but I attend the Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim, PA every week. (dealers only!) Once per month Jaguar has a big sale, usually 200 cars or more. I pay wholesale, I'm a registered dealer there for 45 years. As for buying an "S" Type, not for me. I've ALWAYS owned and driven XJ Jaguars, way back since the 70's. I like the full size Jaguar, and the "S" Type to me is to much "Ford", the door latches, door hinges, the switches, all from either a Mustang or Taurus...I hate em, but thanks. Also I can buy any Jaguar I want from the South at this auction, why go to Texas from NY? I appreciate the tip, but I buy any Jaguar I want at wholesale...and I think I might even buy a new one, they can't seem to give them away, prices are below invoice as the factory is doing everything to help dealers reduce their bulging Jaguar inventories. I havn't really made up my mind, I like the 2003 body style, but I like the features of the newest styling as well...decisions, decisions...
One thing is certain, I'll ONLY buy an XJ car, period, Van den Plas the preferred model. I thank you however for the buying tip, but I can buy the best ones at the lowest prices, why go to "Texas"? I appreciate the tip, but I won;t have any problem buying either a used or new one, I simply havn't made up my mind as to the exact one I want....I still like the 2003 styling..as old as it is.
