Hello guys,
This may be a pretty silly question… but here it goes.
On each of the front seats (especially the driver side) the leather shows more wear on the side facing the door (from getting in and out). Though I am very careful how I get into my car, it looks like the previous owner was not.
Has any one attempted to switch the two seats (just the cushion parts) so they will wear more evenly?
Thanks!

Yeah I hear you or you could always just buy another used set pretty decently priced...every seat pretty much looks like crap even many people that take good care of them...

If you are good at taking stuff apart, you cna probably swap the seat covers... Remember the passenger seat has an sensor for the airbag. I dont know it it is stitched into the cover.
I think that the leather on my car has been quite good. I have 180k km on my car now and the bolsters (sport seats too) are not bad at all...
I think some leatherique would be nice one of these days but I can hardly notice the wear now.

Man buck those seats take my breath away everytime I see them! I wish I had those they'd look sooo sweet in my x! I'd probably never get rid of the car!
Bo you have nearly 112,000miles on your car! I didn't know that! No wonder you've been having so many problems! Shoot I hope I don't have my x when I get near 90k miles! Is that all highway mileage? You put all that mileage on her?

sheesh... i have had BMWs for 20 years and for all of them this is low mileage..
I find it absurd that a premium car should be considered dead at 100k miles

I'm the opposite...I couldn't see keeping a premium car past 100,000 miles/160,934.4 kilometers...Man I could never afford keeping any car no matter what the make (bmw, mb, jag or any of the others) past 100,000miles...Seems like problems always occur no matter the make after that mile marker of the car...that's just my experience though...I've had 2 cars now though that I drove over 200,000 miles...my truck had 220k on it when I sold it almost 4 years ago and saw it last year...I sold my monte carlo with well over 200k miles...and I sold a bonneville that had over 200k but I didn't put substantial miles on that car...
What's the most mileage you've had or have on a car bo? How are your roads up that way? I couldn't have a car that has been driven in Michigan for too many more than 10 years...

I drove a couple of 325iX (the old one.. 1988-1991) for well over 300k km.
I find a new car lasts about 100k km before anything major needs doing, then you have about 50k km of chasing all the stuff that will eventually need changing. This means things like shocks, suspension bits, brakes. Each car has its own quirks and has specific preventative stuff to do.
from 150k km the next 100k are smooth sailing.
My X has been just like that, and I dont fault the car entirely for my problems. THe dealer network has been absolutely terrible to get me through these types of issues. They have no interest in a car that is off warranty and no interest to be involved in preventative maintenance. They are so used to the older cars being serviced in a as needed (breakdown) basis.
THe key to many trouble free miles is preventing a breakdown.. not reacting to them.

Yeah I hear you on the preventative...people find it amazing ball joints need replacing around 60k miles which I'm like shoot thats a long time! Our roads suck here in Michigan! There isn't an engineer in the world that could make a part to last on our manholes....I mean potholes!
