I took the car out yesterday went to a few places and on the way back home I got the dreaded gearbox fault. I have an yellow light on the dash and the message center says cruise not available as well as saying gearbox fault. I had a similar issue back in August and the dealer reprogrammed the computer. This time the car went into limp mode and had basically bucked a few times on the ride home. It is strange I went over a bump in the road and WAMMIE this happened!!!!
When I pulled the codes I am getting a P1643. So basically I am not getting info from the TCM module
Any help would be appreciated....
THANX

You know what the code means than right? If not, CAN Link Engine Control Module/Transmission Control Module Circuit/Network....sorry though I tried to search online for a possible resolution of your problem...unfortunately that seems to be a not too common problem on this forum as well as the web in general...seems like the dealer or reputable shop is the way to go...sorry

yeah I was under the impression that it had something to do with the TCM.

it does ... the code p1643 isn't a feedback for the fuel pump
P1643 is a Can network fault between ecm and tcm.. very hard to figure out.. even at a dealer... most times it's the harness failure.. between ecm and tcm. But good luck.

So far the dealer has diagnosed a failed TCM module and they are looking at the wiring harness for the problem.
I am wondering now if this could have been the issue for my battery light!!!
HMMM?????????

What'd the battery cost you? 140?

No they were unable to diagnose the Battery Light problem that I was having in the summer and chocked it up to some sort of fluke in the system. I am hoping once they retrace some of the wiring they will find a problem and be able to solve the problem I am having with the Gearbox as well as the Battery Light.
But I can only hope..........
A new battery I think costs me somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 bucks. It did not solve the Battery Light issue.

You get special pricing? Cost from a dealer I thought was around 140 I paid 120 for a deka battery. Why don't you have them check out your fobs while you are at it?

I received two brand new fobs when I got the car so I am hoping they are ok. The battery is a generic one and nothing too special.

the battery light is a faulty melting battery cable... with the can failure code they can only guess... tcm ecm or 1 of 2 harness's

Turns out the TCM was bad. MAy have been due to water getting inside of it.. Not quite sure about the whole thing yet. Dealer is still working on it.
