Did the XJ40 ever come with quad headlights? I'm toying with the idea of changing mine to give it a more custom Jaguar type look. Be nice if it was a variant and can just be switched over to rounds.

XJ40 can even look like X300 .Some Jaguar experts did it when the X300 was released out .Parts are interchangeable just needs a few custom work .
If you ask me , don't touch them I just love rectangular heads

Good Point... I like them too, and it looks like most automakers are going to the large clear lens with the lights inside. Besides I think I'll save my money for the next repair... Bad Kitty.

Yes, the XJ40 came with quad lamps in 88/89. You need the headlamp assemblies L&R, the correct bulb failure modules, and the L&R head lamp bezels. Very expensive little undertaking.

Thanks Ken. Nice to have someone in here who knows their Jags. Now why doesn't expensive suprise me? Oh yeah, it's a Jag

While I like the concept, in practice it's probably not going to fly. After repairing the anti lock warning lamp issue, (due to a failed sensor), I'm thinking it's better to concentrate on saving money for the next "minor" maintenence concern that will likely come along in a few days or so. Although to be perfectly honest, a few more of these "minor" $500.00 plus concerns and I'm planning to sell the cat. I do not plan to venture into another money pit, (a lesson learned from a previous car, a Mustang I loved that was priced way too low and had a questionable pedegree.) Total cost of my other three cars last year for maintenence including the hard driven 2006 Mustang was under $500.00 and there is just no way to justifiy spending $500.00 or so every month on a $4500.00 Jaguar my wife didn't support buying and already hates.

Just a side note. The info on the lights was North American production. The rest of the world I believe had either option until 93 or 94.

I checked a photo out on ebay, they look nice, but I'm kinda liking the big square look now that I can compare. Oh well, food for thought, not going to get right on it or anything, just kicking the tires.

Sides it might be better to lie low on any frivolous upgrades until this first bit of Jaguar upkeep blows over the ol homefront.

So I'm thinking the X300 is a very similar car to the XJ40, and it comes with round headlights! Maybe have to look around for a nice used one and upgrade in a few years.

The screws on my right lamp corroded so the wire is all that is holding in the lamp. Also on the highway mine shake alot and I worry about it falling out if I hit a big bump.
Anyone on here know where to get the headlight screw for a 93 xj40?

BTW, sorry for being pundit but you should correct your sig so it's not a V6 XJ6 , it's a straight 6

It's straight in mine as well. And I'd agree, check with Ken... It also might well be a common automotive fastener (Did I just say common when mentioning a Jag? Gasps) and you can likely find one at an auto wrecker that would work.

Uh huh. Sure

I am amazed at how these threads wander from the start to the end. If you were to read the last posts, you would really have no idea of what the original topic even was!! Fun or what???

I resolved my haedlamp problem. At the dealership one of the mechanics just took some of those plastic cable ties to stabalize. I jsut picked the car up so I didn;t look closely to see how it stabalized it.
