How difficult is pulling/replacing the tranny on an 83 xj6? I have pulled several motors and trannys in other (non Jaguar) vehicles in the past, mainly I'm just wondering if there are any unusual procedures I need to follow or anything out of the ordinary I need to watch out for when pulling/replacing? Any specialty tools or hidden bolts/fasteners to look for? I'm new to european vehicles, mostly have worked on GM vehicles in the past. The tranny is a BW 66. Thanks!

Take careful note of how you take apart the rear mount.  That's the only funky chicken in the pot.  No special tools required.

Thanks Ken. I'm tackling it this weekend, I'll post how it goes.

Seems every time I get an hour or so into doing this, something happens and I need to quit. So after 4 partial days, I managed to get the old tranny out and the rebuilt one up and in place. There are a few crazy tight spots that I thought I'd never reach or get the bolts out of, but I eventually did. I managed to get the rebuilt tranny in place, but need to connect everything and torque it all down. Hopefully another day and I'll be rolling along.

Now you need to obtain a pressure gauge and the intructions for setting transmission pressure via the kickdown cable adjustment, or find someone to do it for you that knows what that means.

I'm in Ohio, and I assume you know how to do it.... Where are you, and how much do you want to do it?
