V-12 Are they any good?

I have an opportunity to purcahse what is supposed to be a running V-12 out of a 1985 XJ-12 Convertable. Owner is dropping in a Small block Chevy because the cost of maintining the V-12 is apparently too much for him.

I am hot rodding a 1950 Ford Pickup truck. I am installing a Jag XJ-6 Independent Front Suspension and Independednt rear suspension (including the rear end) in this truck. The engine would fit the theme.

My question: Are these engines any good?: Problems I can expect. Anything I should look for. The price is right but I don't want to spend $40.00 for a boat anchor. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.
