Yes it is true I traded in the baby jag for an brand new fully loaded hyundai Sonata.
I just couldnt take it anymore, (you probably have read all the trouble i was having) all the small things not working the expensive thing breaking. I love my jag but i was going broke fixing it every month. and it was getting worse, plus the cold weather whine didnt go away and was always there now.

YES I KNOW A HYUNDIA FROM A JAGUAR

The Sonata has almost everything my 02 xtype had. (even dual exhusts) the things that it doesnt have;
1. reverse park sensors
2. AWD
3. A FRICKEN SEXY LOOK
4. a leaper on the hood
5. passenger power seat
6. the looks
7. did i mention how it amazing it looks and growls when you punch it?

What the sonata has that the jag didnt
1. more horse's, sonata has 232 xtype 191 (well more like 180 with an older car)
2. heated seats
3. leg room for passenger in the rear
4. a 6 Cd that works and this one plays mp3 cd and has XM
5. remote start
6. better gas millage
7. A 5 year/60,000 mile bumber to bumper, 10/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

I havent really been able to give it a good once over on it, i have been so busy since i got it saturday. shoot i havent even got to preset the radio stations. The car is really really quiet and rides smooth as my 79 cadillac. body rolls in tight turns with the softer suspension
I do need to get used to not having AWD i keep spinning the front tires when i take off. The stability control and traction control kicks in but i still spin the wheels.
Its a great car and it feels so good know i am fully covered and my savings will be used for things like beer and hookers again
After i will drive it a ful week i will be able to give a better comparison.

Dude, don't even hesitate. Those Sonatas are damn good cars.

Trust me, I'm so far from the import-bandwagon, but those things are quite nice for the price.

People who bash 'em probably haven't ever sat in one. Just can't beat the warranty and price. Though, I'm starting to see Hyundai prices hike up like crazy.

Makes you think about back when these guys first came into the Western markets with crap like buy one car and get one free!!!

Good luck, enjoy it.

Really? hookers go for guys in Hyundai? lol im just playing. They are great cars. You are really getting your moneys worth. Hope it treats you better. Your still going to visit the forums right?

ok I will never leave the forums, and dot worry i wont bash the jag like the benz guy did.
The xtype is an amazing car, just mine gave me too many troubles for what i could handle. i am sad to see my baby go and sad that jag is not selling them anymore.

The sonata is sweet its the Hyundai name the puts people off.
I was so close to getting a few other cars
1. 07 volvo S40 (it had 19k and the warranty was good for 5 more years but it was small. and i didnt like that the sales man said "we can certify any car" when they didnt have the volvo certified car i went in for)
2. 08 VW jetta (i was small also but the dealer didnt want to give me $$$ for my jag)
3. 08 Mitsu lancer Gts (it was sweet but the 4 banger was loud and the car had a slight vibration from 0-10 mph. i end up going to three dealers and almost bought it, sonata had a $3000 cash back)
4. 08 Chevy malibu (the price was high and the warranty was only for 3 years)
5. 08 ford mustang (i could only afford the V6, and seriously who buys a V6 mustang?)

I will have pics soon and a short review.

MrxType; you are right the quality of the "ladies of the night" will go down now. i will probably get the one with ot teeth. but really is that a bad thing? . Hey with all the money i am saving i can bump up to "escorts". you guys do know i am joking? or am i?

haha, good luck with the no teeth hookers , I am glad that you found a car you like close to your Jag. Hope it won't give you any trouble. Even though there is a warranty, it is still a hassle and stressful to deal with problems in a car.

I found this forum after reading your post at a Mitsubishi forum. I responded there, suggesting that you wait for the 2009. The engine in the 2008 Lancer sounds awful and feels weak, as it appears you figured out.

Did you get a 2008 Sonata or a 2009? I assume 2008 from the rebate. The 2009s should be arriving at dealers soon if they haven't already. Nicer interior. But the rebate will be lower, at least initially. Hyundai has been giving Sonatas away for a few years now--sales haven't been what they expected.

I do think you'll be happy with the car. But I am a bit concerned that your Jag experience led you to play extreme emphasis on a long warranty.

Hey who ever complained about getting a bad gummer? Personally I would perfer the girl with no teeth opposed to the girl who will leave you with broccoli growing from your **** or better yet leave you with the herp! lol

housegroove77 Did you ever look into a g35 I am sure you could have gotten one used at a decent price with a full aftermarket warranty... but then again there is a reason why someone else would be selling it.

It's still good to hear you won't leave the forums  .I'm sorry about your problems and best of luck w/ your new choice .A sonata or most cars in X Type's class can nominally have  everything that X Type has .However that sexy desing can't be bought lol

Question, why not wait for the new Hyundai Genesis ? Comes out in summer ... 4.6L V8, 375 hp ... you could be racing with the XF for half the price ...

That genesis does sound sweet. But hey, a sonata is close to the X. My friends always tease me about it...saying "I was wondering who was here in their hyundai" (i dont mind, they drive shithole cars haha). Good luck with your investment! Surely that thing holds value better than these Jags.

Alright it has been a week and i have a small review and some pics.

Ok I miss walking up to my jag in the parking lot and getting the "JAGUAR" feeling. you guys no what i mean. I am also tired of hearing "dude you went from a jag to a hyundia, dude".
But that said the sonata is SO FRICKEN QUIET AND SMOOTH, (i have already tried to turn the car over while it was running cause i didnt hear the engine), in fast turns there is more roll than i like but i dont drive this car he same as i did the xtype. this hyundia sucks up bumps and holes, with no road noise, and feels amazingly sold for a japanese car. this car has something jag doesnt and auto aircon thing that ACTUALY WORKS. seriously i set it at a temp it gets there quick and doesnt balst loud air like the jag did. plus i have a remote starter :) The interior materials are not close to jaguar but are darn good for its class and price $$$. The inside of the car is HUGE, people in back now can fit extreemly comforatble with both front seats all the way back. the seats are not even close to as comforatble as the jag. The radio system is INSANE, i dont think if i went aftermarket it would be as clear. the mid's while listening to jazz is amazing. When i listen to house and hip hop (bass heavy music) there is only slight rattling when its all the way up, and i will never go that loud only to show off to a frend for a few seconds. and even at full blast the is almost no distorton. I miss the AWD cause we had a 6 in snow storm here the Sonata is good in the snow but no Xtype. the power in the sonata is 263hp alot more but i spin the tires on dry pavement so its a balance that i havent found yet with the throttle. mpg's are lower than i expected, but the car isnt broken in yet so i will wait on that comparison. Its crazy i drive like an old man 80% of the time now with this car, and not because i am babying.thats the way it drives, smooth and quiet like a buick. I am definatly going to finish my mazda this year for my inner-boy racer to play.
All in all i love the car, the sound system, the peace of mind, and money in my wallet.
I am disconected from the drving experiance now, this car is a commuter. which is great to get to work, the store, long drives. So my mazda will be my weekend speedster for fun and real driving.

I got gray cause the black and other color paint looked cheap, silver was the best but they didnt have the limited in silver on their lot. The carbon fiber trim on the inside doesnt fit the driving style, but the wood looks cheap so i didnt want cheap looking wood.

I know the floor mats dont match but i took those out of the mazda cause i dont want the new ones to get muddy from the spring weather.

Sonata's are nice...like jp said though you should have gotten the genesis!  That thing is a freaking beast!  I loved it at the naias this year! Had like a 12 speaker stereo in it or something like that!  That car was nice!  I myself just got a new car as well but I still have the jag as well...
