As said in the title, what have you taken your x-type too? I found the limiter

Still drives like its on rails too!

in style and comfort in the jaguar! This thing is slow from anything under 70, after that it will rip where most cars would fall off.

I thought you were going to say that it's not about how fast you go, but about how fast you get there! That is certainly true in the city. We can all go 100 mph, but if I get there first, I win

I have slowly learned that no matter how fast you are going, the person you passed 10 miles back is sitting right beside you at the stoplight.

Only on long stretches of highway for long periods of time does it benefit you going faster.

no one answered the question yet? i have gone 115mph drove better the faster i went! i think 80-90mph is when the car feels it's best.

In a stock X-Type? You wouldn't see me going any faster than 85mph.

Had one cut out at 125mph.

Got upset by a driver in a Citroen Saxo with big bore exhaust so floored it to over 140mph on speedo in Washington (UK) on a (private,if police reading...if not public) relatively quiet stretch of road about 4 or 5 miles long and watched him disappear into the distance (theyve only got a 1.6 engine??).
I know there are never usually any Police cars on that stretch.
Anyway I passed a police car which luckily for me could only do around 130mph.
Good job Ive got EBC discs and pads.
Wouldnt do that sort of speed again
PS (Only joking about police car

)

I've done a lil over a 100 and any faster and the car isn't stable anymore. I didn't feel comfortable pushing it any faster so i stopped there.
Now in my BMW...I've hit the speed limiter...and it felt rock solid and I wanted to go even faster if i could. :)

My record is 135 mph with four people in the car (floored the pedal for like 10 mins, or at least felt like 10 mins

). I am sure this beast can go faster.... if i was by myself...

I've got to say top speed doesn't do much for me. I'll admit however, I usually catch myself loafing along at around 70 mph on the twisty 45 mph road I live on

I thought these cars are limited to 126 or 128 MPH. Thats where mine shut off. My formula didnt have a limiter and I went 163 with the top down without even hitting overdrive. 2.73 gears ftw. I hear it would go 169 before it stopped due to running out of rpm and the trans wont shift into overdrive at WOT. that was a crazy ride.

Is entirely possible with the reflashes the ECM gets, they may have inadvertantly left out the goverening part of the software.

Personally I got the car so people could get a good look at it so going too fast for them to get a look sort of defeats the purpose. Now quick starts are not out of the question.
Seriously, I only got it up to 100 so far, on a public highway that was pretty empty on a sunny Sunday afternoon, but it felt like it had more and was still gaining speed when I eased off the "petrol". I would suspect 125-130 is not out of the question at all but I can't imagine when or why I would want to do that.

yeah i seen couple x's do close 200 km .. they do forget the limiter stupid engineers..lol

I like that acceleration more so than the top speed..a Semi-truck can do over a 100MPH..but it's how fast getting there is what impresses me.

i dont think the high speed is good for the transfer case.. .6 litre of fluid getting boiled...in there

as long as the wheels are doing the same speed front and back there shoulnt be anymore friction then going 60 or 70.

I have hit the limit in my 02 more than once hehe. It was at 135 then slowed down to 130 then back to 135 haha then I kept it at 130 and the audi I was racing was still behind me about 5 cars lengths back.

Limiter...what limiter...none in UK
Acceleration isnt outstanding even in the 3.0 manual but then I have been spoiled by sports cars in the past...see
My website.
That car was imported from Japan where their cars are limited to 180kmh (112mph) and the one thing that I didnt like was the speed limiter cutting in at 180kmh.The car was modified after importing. The first time I hit the limiter I nearly went through the windscreen under heavy acceleration when the revs just cut out.Fixed this by putting a cog between the gearbox and speedo cable (8:5 ratio IIR) which meant in theory that the limiter was taken from 180kmh to 180mph

I assure you that there are moving parts ( shafts and gears and bearings) in the transfer case that will heat up the oil. The faster you go the more it heats up. Nothing profound about that.
there is additional heating from the VC, and even small differences in tire diameter will cause the VC to generate a lot of heat.
Jag Genius.. I am on your side here..
If you drive the car that fast.. change/check the tc oil often.... as they say.. "severe operating condition" not covered by the maintenance schedule.
I would not drive that fast unless you have new tires, and checked the tire pressure and the lug nuts immidiately prior to the illegal fun. new brakes are a good idea also. also Never do it with a passenger, nothing gives you the right to endanger their lives. Do it alone, on open roads.

bojangles i 100% agree on not endangering others lives. Please people, keep your fast and dangerous driving to vacant roads where there are no cars for a while.
And as far as tyre pressures and all that, they are always right. One should check all this ATLEAST every fill up, and i typically fill up twice a week. It stays tip top

The only thing i am dreading is the TC. It was changed along with the whole TC and coupler and seals about 7K mi ago. I am wondering if its time again yet???
