Sorry bojangles, i must have been lost in a daydream or something. For some reason i couldnt get past thinking of the front to rear differential in speeds causing the heat. Don't worry though, i know that with a heavier load, heat always ensues.

65mph...

I'm not really a speed-junkie. To me it's very irresponsible with other motorist on the road. If you do on a track and endanger your own life that's fine.

Plus, I don't really get the whole, "look at my fuel needle drop" thing! Remember, be safe guys.

I did 130 mph in my old Supra.  I wouldnt think of doing that in my X.  I am not into the speed demon thing anymore.  Been there, got the t-shirt.  I can truly say that I just enjoy the car bone stock.  It has just enough luxury, just enough power, and great styling.  I may change the grill one day, but I feel no immediate burning need to.

Be safe guys, is all I can say.  I had more than my fill of close shaves in the supras I had.

FactoryJaguarTech,

No, not because it's an X-Type, because it's stock.

Put some larger wheels, stickier tires, shocks+springs, aero kit, intake, exhaust, brakes+hoses, and ecu tuning and I wouldn't think twice about cruising at 150mph in a car with AWD and DSC.

However, off the lot, it simply is not made for these kinds of enthusiastic driving conditions.

130 in my X.............Sport with uprated EBC Redstuffs on her.
I have to say I didn't feel all that comfortable in her at that speed. I have driven cars at faster speeds and felt more at ease with it.

Exactly! After feeling the car at high speeds, I think this car is best for suited cruising along at standard highway speeds. After that its just not stable anymore. But I don't have the sports package.

06 3.0 Auto X-Type, top speed? 115 ... I love cruising in this car, its definitely meant to be seen, not raced. 60-90 are the speeds I feel happiest with.
And I must say, I just installed Bridgestone Potenza's and it feels so much smoother at high speeds than the stock contis ...

Spot on IMO Masterdeep..............I love speed, but always saw the X as a beautiful big cruiser, meant to be seen and appreciated. Definitely NOT  a race car. I do love however the sound of the V6 growling when you give it some

I'm running Bridgestone 960AS. Tires are amazing I must say. Best all seasons I've ever tried. They are close to how summer tires feel. When I switched from stock contiTourings to these, car felt 200lbs lighter. I was surprised that tires could make this big of a difference. Car is much more tossable now and handling is drastically improved. Car got a little bumpier, but that's fine since it was too soft for me in the first place. :)

I only got it to 115 and cruized it at 110 for a long stretch. It didnt feel to stable at 115. But its true between 70-100 the jag shines. i have never felt that safe in any car at that speed.
no my camaro could go like nobody's business, but at 70 it felt scary all the way up untill the 100's and the power loss at 80-95 showed. the jag is a true beast cause you can feel the power still coming after 95 mph.

Lol, once the secondaries hit....wooooo!

At least in the 2.5L, IIRC, the 3.0L doesn't have secondaries....I think.

Not the X I know guys but thought I'd add it anyway.

On my way home tonight from Derby I had a clash with a BMW 330ci. The guy was just being a real PITA sitting in the outside lane for miles with no one in front and acres of space to move over at around 100. Anyway, he eventually moved over and I gunned it and drove on past taking the A6 up to 143ish for a mile or so.....he sorta trailed behind a little....lol
That was until I saw the hi viz chevrons on the back of a volvo T5
Had to slow down to 70 pretty damn quick...lol
Thank god the brakes are good otherwise I would been in deep s*it.

Felt really comfortable and coulda went slightly faster.......safe n secure, really comfortable and stable even at that speed!

Yeah my car felt stable and comfy when it held at my top speed...i say it could have went faster if it wasn't limited, there's still some pull left in the motor.  Guessing hi viz chevrons are on police vehicles?

Visit the site below and scroll down to  "strathclyde" in the left hand column. Take a look at the bmw 330 in police livery from the back and you'll see what I mean

what did you have billinohio? Me and my friend went 0-70 in 36 seconds in his 53 meadowbrook with 3 on the tree and the ol staight shooter 6. The top speed is a whopping 75 MPG downhill with a good breeze behind us. Atleast until we put the Polyhead and OD on it. i love old muslecars, just no time to build one till i get out of school. Bought the jag so i could ride in style in the mean time!

Bill - I had a '68 Charger as a kid in high school! Mine was a tired 318 though. Classic lines on that one.

I have slowly learned that no matter how fast you are going, the person you passed 10 miles back is sitting right beside you at the stoplight. Only on long stretches of highway for long periods of time does it benefit you going faster.

Ain't that the truth!  That happens to me all the time going to work.  I fly around somebody that is blocking me and continue speeding.  20 minutes later in the city, I see the same damned person in FRONT of me at a stoplight. ???

I've gone around 105mph with the X-Type on I-5 on my way to Fresno.  This tricked out Honda Civic Hatchback was going back and forth taunting me, so I shifted into 4th gear and all I saw after that was his 12,000K HID's behind me.

I didnt think I the X-Type would handle so well and be so stable with 19 inch wheels.  I was pretty impressed with the Mastercraft Avenger ZHP tires, pretty sticky.
