Apparently star power doesn’t always translate to higher car sale prices, because Adam Carolla’s 1999 Jaguar XJR didn’t exactly set any records.

Carolla’s British Racing Green XJR recently sold for just $11,500 on Bring a Trailer, despite what would seemingly make for higher demand. Upon factory release, she sported 370 horsepower and 387 lb.-ft. of torque from its supercharged V8. Carolla’s owned the car for the last 15 years, and it’s been maintained by his trusted mechanics. Plus, knowing what kind of a car-nut Carolla is, it’s probably safe to say he babied this baby.

The not-yet-a-classic XJR has 43k miles on her, and is mostly stock, save for Brembo brakes and added heat extractors to the hood, which look perfectly matched. Normal wear and tear is present, both inside and out, including some scuffs and scratches, but nothing major. However the car has failed to start on a few occasions, but that problem was always quickly solved by removing the key and trying again.

According to Art of Gears, “Jaguar XJR’s of this year usually bring in around $12,500 with the lowest ones asking $11,900.” And none of those have star power behind them, presumably. Oh well, even though Carolla doesn’t seem to have the same clout he once did, hopefully the actor/comedian/carguy doesn’t need the money too badly.
