Jaguar Cleans Up at Auto Express Awards

Here’s hoping you already ordered your F-PACE, because after this recent bit of news, they may be hard to come by.

Auto Express has just named Jaguar’s new SUV not just their Compact SUV of the Year, but also their overall Car of the Year. And as if that wasn’t enough Jaguar-adulating, they also named the Jaguar XE the Compact Executive Car of the Year for the second year running.

Not a bad haul, eh?

According to AE: “Despite being a newcomer to the SUV party, Jaguar has stormed to the front immediately with its brilliant F-PACE – and scooped our coveted Car of the Year title in the process.”

It would be impossible to point to just one reason why AE selected the F-PACE for such an honor, since there are so many to be had, and they are understandably effusive. Most of the reasons have to do with “grace, pace, and space” though. Oh, and don’t forget value.

As huge an honor as the COTY is, let’s not overlook the impressive accomplishment of the XE. First of all, this is the 47th major global award for the car, as noted by Automotive World. Second, before the XE’s arrival in the segment, it had been more than 10 years since a non-German brand won the award.

Pretty impressive. But don’t take my word for it, take Ian Callum’s, the man who designed both the XE and the F-PACE:  “What an incredible evening for us; we’ve got two cars competing in the most highly sought-after categories and not only have we won them both, but F-PACE is Car of the Year, too. As ever, I’m amazed by, and proud of, what the Jaguar team is capable of.”

Us too, Ian. Us too.
