Default No power to CD changer

I was trying to repair my CD changer (no disk error where changer jams) on my 2001 XK8 and have managed to lose power to the unit. Checked all the fuses and they look OK. Radio works, cassette works, but when I cycle thru modes CD mode never comes up. I checked the connection from the amp and it seems to be connected tightly.

Any help here is appreciated. Really a dummy when it comes to audio or electrical, so simple is good.

I'm having the same issue with my 2000. Did you find a solution? Thanks

Actually I managed to fry something on the pc board. Smoke & burnt smell was a good indication. Haven't gotten around to this CD issue due to other more pressing alternator problems. Likely I will go the replacement route. Plenty on eBay for $100-$125.

Google (the search on this forum is not as good) for CD repairs and you will find several solutions. All of them are easy DIY stuff, unless of course you short it out by not paying attention like someone we will not name did.

I'm having to replace every speaker as well as now having the cd issue. Looks like I'll be replacing the head unit as well. I'd prefer to stay original with the head unit but it seems going used may eventually put me back in the same boat!

Thanks for the reply and I agree that this forum is hard to navigate from a smart phone.
