Weird switch

Weird switch
Hey all,
just recently bought an STR (my first Jag). Having had it only a brief time I noticed a weird "switch" in it which I have no idea what it does. Not sure if this is the correct part of the forums but I will give it a go.
I made a Youtube video of what happens when I activate it.
The switch is located down to the left in the little compartment above the hood lever.
The top is a pot which you can rotate and the bottom half is a switch which you can turn clockwise and anti-clockwise, one "click" respectively. There is a weird chirp when you activate it and it only works when ignition is on so likely not an alarm.
Any suggestions what the heck it does? The installation is very professional and well done. The video is kinda blurry, sorry about that.
The car is originally sold in the US but imported to Sweden where I live. No idea when the mod was made or where, have nothing on it. Have emailed the previous owner but no reply yet. Let me know if you have any tips, want some pictures or whatever.

It looks to me that it might be a switch to an aftermarket, stealth radar detector - probably installed somewhere under the dash. It's the type of sound that one would make. At first I thought it could be a switch to some type of add-on lights on the vehicle, but that wouldn't account for that sound it makes. Can't believe the owner didn't give you some info on it before he sold it to you.
