JDCA Concours, September 14th - Asquith/Hornsby
Right as you have probably seen the All British Day which was rescheduled from August 24th to September 13th, well thanks to the incessant rain it's been cancelled altogether and put off until 2015...
BUT
The JDCA Concours goes on!
The Concours will be held at Asquith Boys High School, just North of Hornsby on Sunday the 14th of September.
It is a school open day and the JDCA had planned a small presence, now it's a big presence, with some of the best Jags in NSW on display. It will be just the cars that were originally entered in the Concours at the All British Day.
We have an authentic alloy XK120, very rare, and very, very valuable, as well as E-Types, Mk 4's, and many more up to the most modern, like my XJR. Quite a display, and everyone is welcome to come and have a look.
Gates open at 9.30 and the address is Asquith Boys High, Pacific Highway, Asquith.
Community Fun Day - Asquith Boys High School
After all the work I put into getting the XJR ready for the Concours, i'm relieved that the day could be salvaged. I will bring the JF Banner along so if there's more JF members there we'll get it out and the members can sign it.

At the very least come along and observe the cleanest XJR in the country

Concours at Asquith this Sunday
Hop aboard fellas ...
While prior commitments prevent me being there, I desperately need as many as possible to brave the beautiful Spring sunshine to take plenty of pics and give rousing support to Cameron and his (by now) absolutely dazzling XJR.
Dark sunglasses are mandatory for your safety ... and drooling anywhere nearby will be actively discouraged.
So c'mon ... grab the kids; grab your wife; grab your girlfriend (oops sorry) ... better still, grab 'em all and make it a delightful day out.
Best of British Luck in the Concours d'Elegance, Cambo.

Weather forecast is good for tomorrow, I spent a couple of hours this afternoon doing the final prep on the XJR; vacuum, Liquid Leather on the seats, quick-detail to clear the dust and gave the windows a good shot (I hate cleaning glass). If anyone is coming out tomorrow make yourself known, I will have the banner with me.

Well, what a day! I will add some of my own personal experience to the other thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/d...-detat-124867/ but let's share the photos and a summary of the day here.
After the All British Day being cancelled (twice!) we were fortunate that today could go ahead, and it's a credit to the organisers from the JDCA that today went so well.
But, there was one little hiccup, that no-one could have forseen...trees...
The location at the Asquith Boys High School was great, except the trees started pollinating, heavily...all the cars were covered in pollen...
The judges took this into account, but it was still a bit of a sore-point, after all that preparation...
OK so now we've got that out of the way, what a fantastic exhibition of Jags!
The standout for me was this MK IV, and not just because I dream of owning one, it was immaculate, just fantastic. If this doesn't take gold I will be surprised.
Not sure why this XK needed a mod-plate?
So the entrants, kept on cleaning...
And then the judges started judging....
There were a few cars there that were not in the Concours, but just out on display.
I realised today that if you want to change the air filters on an F-Type you need to remove the front bumper and the headlights...
Brand new XJR...550hp of awesomeness...
This X-Type Indianapolis will probably take home a trophy, only 19K on the clock and it's like new...
A few (very familiar looking?) Porsches turned up as well...
There were heaps of other classics there too, some Mustangs, old Holdens, other classic British (Austin Healey, Jensen, MG's, etc...)
Don't ask me who won the Concours, we won't know for a week or so...

Thanks Ken,
I've been lusting after a MK IV for years, so yeah i'm biased. But I do honestly think that particular car will take out Gold or Silver in the Concours D'Elegance, it was a real standout.
Everyone put in an incredible effort with their cars, made me realise that my efforts in the last couple of weeks weren't all that spectacular to be honest, all the cars were finished to an incredibly high standard, and although the XJR presents well for it's age/mileage, there were a number of cars that were just better, in condition and in preparation.

Great pics Cameron, but it makes me feel like my XJ6 should stay at home(ABDQ) and let the Bonneville get a day out as it is almost at concours.
The XJ6 will be there,we have have a spot reserved for 6 cars. We have four starters so far.....wonder if we can pitch a beer tent in extra space, lol.
Nice cars , I love the series 1 with lights where the grills go.

The results are out.
Delighted to advise that Cambo scored a Silver Award in the JDCA Concours.
This is no mean effort as the Jaguar club is very serious about its Concours and a Silver Award is only one step below the pinnacle of concours achievement, the Gold Award.
Considering Cambo's X350 XJR is a daily driver and has clocked up over 170,000 kms. it is a remarkable result for him.
He should feel very happy and very proud.
Well done Cameron!

Hey Cambo,
Richly deserved mate, after all that effort and $750 worth of polish.
FOR SALE ... FOR SALE .... XJR (with SILVER AWARD no less) ... magic carpet to the stars ... only ever driven on Sundays (to and from the track). Half an unused bottle of polish thrown in ... Oops; damn. Asking $20,000 for the Jaguar ... and $30,000 for Concours Award Certificate!
Jokes aside, and having trod the Concours path some 30-40 years ago, I know this to be a brilliant achievement. Well done!
Ken

just found this thread! We were there with our car as well, (you'll see some peeks in the above photos - Dk blue with black roof) great day beautiful weather and cars. the We were honoured with a Silver for our efforts as well. absolutely wrapped as we started with an engine fire wreck 3 years ago. we spent weeks cleaning and polishing - swore i'd never do it again, especially having the All Brit day cancelled twice. but now...
