Monthly get together...

Monthly get together...
Hi all,
I think we have enough SEQ forum members that it would be nice to have a monthly run, say the first Sunday each month or whatever we can agree upon.
At the moment it's basically hit and miss (Caloundra Air Museum, All British Day, etc.).
We have members on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and south of the River.
All you need to do is volunteer (the main issue), and lead a run through your local area (75-100km) ending with a stop at a restaurant of your choosing or a public park (BYO chairs, lunch, etc.).
My Jaguars are not garage queens and I am looking for any excuse to drive them! I cannot be the only one!
Please let me know if you are interested in this concept and I will proceed from there.
Cheers,
Stu

Good idea Stu, we have had seven outings in the last year. It is not easy coaxing more than 3-5 out to most of them.
Although the events or destinations have been varied and not every ones cup of tea.
We seem to be getting 5-10 members out now so we are gaining momentum.
I would be happy to try anything to get our cars out on the road and socialise, so far I haven't seen a garage queen on one of our meets. I think most members are happy to use their cars at any opportunity.
If people are happy to put their hand up and take us for a run through their area or a place they like I will join in. It might be hard to get everyone out monthly but we can try it.
The hardest part is getting people to offer up ideas for destinations and follow through with the planning.

I'm keen bearing in mind that i am also VERY heavily involved with a motorcycle club & most of our runs are on Sundays.
If people are truly interested then they will attend.
Day runs for a bbq or lunch at a country pub, from personal experience, will probably be more appealing to most than putting their car "on show" somewhere & i am one of them.
It's the same with the bike runs. It's all about the ride/drive rather than standing around for hours doing not much at all.
Just my opinion.

Nice one guys, good luck to you on this, sounds like fun.
I've just spent the last 3 months organising my meet a week or so ago at Crieff,https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...e-05th-157318/
We had quite a few cars and a good turnout generally.
If there's anything I can do to help promote this or help in any way, please let me know, always happy to help
Best
Jim

We've been to Ballina RSL, Rathdowney pub, O'rielly's Rainforest retreat, Melaney twice, Lakeside a couple of times, Gokarting up the coast, Woodford Pub, Toogoolawa for an Airshow.
I agree, it's all about getting there. My wife and I often drive or ride to a pub on Sundays for lunch.
Some of the outings have been two or three people. As you say, if they are truly interested they will come.
If we do decide on a destination that is not of their liking they will stay at home, but you can't make everyone happy all the time.
Maybe this thread will entice people to put forward their ideas, there have been plenty of opportunities for people to have input to the threads. Usually they are started without a destination and grow from there, as people show interest and dates start getting thrown around we tend to lock it in to a date and destination with three starters.
The outing this Sunday will be three hours behind the wheel for me,just the way I like it.

Most of our outings have been drives to pubs etc, enjoying driving the cars. The only one where we generally stand around is All British day.
