Heads up. We dined at he Mapleton Tavern last weekend,35 minute wait for a cold roast of the day!!
Stopped by plenty of times for a drink at the bar or use the bottlo when camping but never ate there.
Anyway, a zillion eatery's in the area to choose from on the day. I'm guessing parking isn't going to much of an issue since we only have two
starters.

The food was *****.

Rooftop parking is already been filled, but still plenty of other places to park!

Heh guys. Just got word from Clarke to pass the message on:

the meet has been moved forward to 11am at the Ettamogah Pub.

Ill probably get there a little earlier than that. Look for the Blue XJS if you get there before 11am. Will probably head up to Mapleton a little after 11 I guess.

Also got word there might be a couple of Triumph Staggs to come alone for the ride as well with Fireball, to keep with the British Flavour.

See ya there!

Sorry for the last minute change in start time, I did run it by Paul before it was changed as we are the only two starters so far.
Reason for the change is we will have a 3rd starter if we go one hour later as he has to work beforehand.

1.Paulyling- Paul, 2 sons and Dad, 85 XJS
2.o1xjr- Clarke & Kirsty, 73 XJ6
3. Pete & Karn, 77 Triumph Stag
4.Peter & wife, either 50's corvette or 47 Buick (possible starter).

Default Sunshine Coast hinterland drive

Best wishes everyone for a great drive through Sunshine Coast hinterland. Sounds like Clarke has arranged fantastic weather for those who can run "tops down" - but then, those with tin tops have the advantage of keeping spectator drool off the leather upholstery . . . LOL.

More signatures. We look forward to some good pics to compensate for our disappointment at not being there.
Take care,
Ken

Default hooray

What a great day to be had by all!

It was small in numbers but nevertheless a great catch up. It was Fireball and myself and also another British Cousin the Triumph Stagg (1977).

We started at the Ettamogah Pub and headed for Maleny. Before we left we spotted a Jaguar Mark V (or maybe SS im not sure) parked at the pub. I think It might of been there for a wedding but not sure. Hope it wasn't there for the cruise! (sorry if ya were)

Once we hit the frog n toad we headed for Maleny but after climbing the hill from Landsbrough to Maleny the Blue Goose got a little hot under the collar and the temp gauge reached almost H so I had to pull over and cool er down a bit. I might add it was 32 degrees QLD heat today so that has to add to the equation.

After some assistance by the chaps we headed down to the mountain to Peachester and cruised on down to Woodford where we had lunch.

After some steaks we went for a photo op right by an Old Tank (a leopard?) we found by the side of the road. Random photo op eh?

Also had the honor of signing the famous Jaguar Forums banner! So Proud!

Pretty cool pics then we cruised off and parted ways.

Thanks for organising a great cruise Clarke!

p.s tried to post some pics but the web traffic is making things a little slow. Stay tuned...

Yep JF is slow tonight, I wrote this post and attached pics 3 times

Queensland put on a perfect cloudless day for our drive. We drove to the Sunshine Coast and met up with Paul at the Etamogah Pub, then made a plan for the drive over coffee.

Paul brought along his Dad, Jim and two sons. There was Kirsty and myself , joined my Pete and Karn in a Triumph Stag. The boys entertained us by jumping a matchbox Veyron over the menu ramps and one time landing it in a glass of raspberry lemonaide , a roar of laughter went up and everybody in the restaurant was looking at our table.(I'm sure that was the first thing Mum heard about when they got home)

Before leaving the meeting point we spotted this MKIV I think, but could not locate the owner so were hoping they did not arrive to meet up with us without posting in the thread.

We headed off up the mountains into the Hinterland, but soon had to abort the mission as Paul sensibly parked his XJS before it got too hot, while we had to continue to the top of the hill before finding a turning spot to find the missing Jag. We decided on a new route with less hills to drive to Woodford for lunch in the pub there.

Lunch, which was pretty good for a country town pub. Except my steak with garlic prawn side arrived without the steak!. But after a 40 minute wait I decided garlic prawns and half of my wifes chicken breast would be perfect.
After lunch we headed up the road a bit for a photo op then Paul headed home to the Sunshine Coast and the rest of us took the Mt Mee tourist drive back to Brisbane via Dayboro. Spotting a MKII with SB350 for sale at the fuel stop.

It was unusual to see this view of Pete's Stag as we normally hit the road on two wheels.

I posted it in the thread below, as the guy does not have pc and doesn't want to advertise it .
He wants about $10,000. Sounds like a lot of mods done, but doesn't present as $10k car. Maybe $5K in my opion.(but that's using my "walk by theory")

Oh heh by the way...my speedo worked without any problems yesterday. I guess the Blue Goose was being merciful.

Cheers Clarke..

Well I did show the Mrs an XKR the other day and she says "Yeah I like that" (she likes sporty) but it cant accomodate the bloody Golden Retriever.

So what Jag can accomodate a dog!

I dont know about you guys but I always get the whole "old man car" comments from her!

Oh by the way, what is going to be our next QLD Jaguar Forums cruise or meet?

Is it possible to work something at Lakeside like a show n shine as a thought?

Perhaps a little ambitious but we could tag along with some other event that would be appropriate. Maybe something for the future?

QLD Raceways - Lakeside Park

QLD Raceways - Calendars

Perhaps the Blue Goose could also have a race....only kidding!

Well done fellas, sounds like fun for all. Thanks for sharing great pics Clarke.

Different subject but raised here . . . fella with Mk2 has gotta be dreamin'. Ten grand is very wishful. The Meerschaum Vale XJ beastie is sold (hands up, please) which is both good and predictable. I thought the ad said only 101,000 on clock (far from high mileage) and at $3,000 asking price, that one looked a right steal.

Good to see the banner being rolled out again. We must invite Jim to pass on some of these pics to our banner sponsor . . . it really is provoking interest and I'm sure will continue to fuel membership interest.

The XJ8 Sport in Brisbane has 101,000km. The XJ40was high 200's from memory.(somewhere around 275K

1998 Jaguar XJ8 Sport

Perfect weather for the day, a few more cars would be great.
The Banner is in transit to the Mexicans(those south of the border)

Clarke is absolutely correct . . . which at $13K+, makes the XJ8 a beautiful buy and the Mk2 quite forgettable, IMHO. Any chance of finding 13 of us to chuck in $1,000 bucks each? Let's see . . . that works out at 4weeks each in each year. Maybe not, eh?

Mind you, could be a good excuse to get together for a drive and a chat.
