88 XJ40 Sovereign for sale
Suit restoration. I am not able to finish it
For Sale (Port Pirie, SA) 1988 XJ40 3.6 Sovereign.
Fair condition inside and out.
Much of the interior has been replaced:
knee bolsters
front seats
door trims
I/R remote entry
Steering wheel
Instrument panel. (digital, all works)
New brake pads, new battery, 80% tread on tires, original spare (new condition) all chrome work still like new (no blemishes or flaking)
Runs and drives (not currently registered)
engine needs attention, not sure what....
Starts first turn of the key, idles erratically for the first couple of minutes and then settles to a nice idle.
Slight rattle noise I think is coming from the manifold cover plate.
Original booster brake system (not working) so brakes are not assisted. I intended to replace with vacuum booster.
Rust across back window.
$2000 ono - message if interested or for more info.

yeah mate.....
as much as I want to finish restoring her
I sold her coz I had too much debt (China Trip etc) and needed the money
but I was miserable and I managed to get her back.
but financially nothing has changed and the debt keeps growing
So I have to be realistic and part with her.
Got a fella coming to look at her today around 4pm..

Bob,
BUGGA.
I know that feeling. We had 8 at one time, plus the 2 the kids had, and then the stuff hit the fan, 54 operations later, they had to go, and as sad as we were at the time, the relief was instant.
Getting way on top of things again, but 8 Jags, NEVER again. 3 is enough, and when someone buys the X300, 2 will be just fine.

couldnt imagine having 8 at once lol
it is a shame but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
I have had a few people look at it but nothing definate yet
I would prefer it to go to someone who appreciates it and wants a project car
most of the people looking at it want an everyday jump in drive away car for this price.... I tell them it still needs lots of work to get her to the everyday car stage.
if it was in mint condition, I would not be selling it for $2000 ono.
I am sure it will catch someones attention eventually.... I will probably have debts cleared up by then and decide to keep her hahaha

Hi Bob . . . greetings mate, and after an absence that seems too long, I'm sorry to see your Cat out the door. Like Grant, I know the feeling when priorities (financial or otherwise) change to such an extent that passion bows to reality.
Damn shame after all the effort you have put into her, so we have all our fingers and toes crossed for a change of circumstances. However, if that's the breaks, then another opportunity will always emerge. Please keep in touch Bob, whatever the outcome.
Keep the wheel turned into the drift pal . . .
Loud pedal on the floor; and to hell with the cost of the tyres,
Ken

Hi Ken
I have been around mate.... I pop in every so often and have a quick read of some posts lol
well mate... dems da breaks as they say... we all have to deal with priorities on a daily basis, and at this time... The Jag unfortunately can not be first... she was always to be a luxury not a priority.
there will of course be other opportunities so it will all work out eventually
