DEF - Blue DEF
#2
you don't have to take it to a dealer, if you are able to refill yourself. As long as it's meets the same ISO 22241-1 spec, you can absolutely do it yourself.
Check out the 'Diesel Exhaust Fluid' video (in Section 3) on the "HOW TO" page in the F-Pace sub-forum:

Also found link to online owner's manual about DEF/refilling:

I have a diesel F-Pace on order, and after reading up on all this DEF stuff, I'll be doing it myself.
Benefits of doing it at Dealer:
- you don't have to do anything - just write the check.
- the dealer will (should) fill it completely full. If you do it yourself with the bottles, you may not top it off. for some folks, that's not a big deal.
- if you happen to re-sell it, it might give extra 'peace of mind' to a finicky buyer knowing you had it done at the dealership. i personally wouldn't care as long as the rest of the vehicle reflected proper care/maintenance.
Benefits of doing it yourself:
- likely saving money - $50-$200, depending on DEF amount and dealer charges
- don't have to schedule anything/drive to dealership - do it whenever you want,
hope this helps..

I have an XF Diesel and i fuel it myself. Never had an issue, not that i had much of a choice as it warned it when i was miles and miles away from a dealership....but had an autozone nearby ...i watch a you tube video and followed the instructions. I have to refill mine every 2000 miles i think if not less....but it sure feels less
