Default Turbo issue

Finally looking at a big bill for the S Type Diesel. After 6 years of ownership in a 10 year old car that is not bad going. The car went in for a repair after I had my first bump in 25 years (banged the boot and broke a light with a skip). We decided to get it serviced at the same time and it has come back that there is an issue with the turbo.

I was behind the car on my motorcycle a month or so ago and saw little puffs of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. The car can also be sluggish on start up.

The garage has found an oil leak. One possibility is the larger turbo is on it way out as that is where oil is coming from into the engine bay. The other (and cheaper) possible is the unit which sits between the turbos and regulates which one gets what. The larger turbo has been taken off and apparently looks fine. So it may be this unit is somehow letting oil through.

Bummer I was a happy owner who has been on this forum for a good while with nothing really to report, till now.....

Turns out it was the sender unit, £181 plus VAT plus most of the engine out so a lot of labour. Still, could have been worse and the power is back.
