Go back a few posts..I commented that in the US we had inferior diesel fuel compared to Europe up until a few years ago. The reply to that was what did I find inferior about our higher sulfur fuel from a few years back as opposed to europes ultra low surfer fuel? And then I responded.

The full change over in the US to ultra low sulfur diesel from our previous low sulfur fuel will happen in 2015/16 which will be anything that uses diesel.

Veg oil has NO sulphur in it, but new oil costs more.

not the perfect solution, as of YET!

the Ultra Low Sulphur diesel(ULSD) has been below 15PPM for over 5yrs, compared to hi-sulphur had 200-300PPM from previous fuel.

part of the reason we dont get diesel cars in US, is the oil companies them selves,
#1 if they made more d-fuel they would lose money on gasoline, not sell as much volume.

gas is cheaper ,but they sell far more quantity, and as usual its all about the money.

plus the military uses just about all D-fuels in everything.

for many yrs. i remember diesel around 1/2 the price of gas, then the socalled oil embargo of 73.

deregulation of petro energy, and all hell broke loose, all about the money!

Interested to see if the diesel XE shakes things up...

(forgive me for reviving the dead here but I'm interested in getting a diesel... unless they come out with electrics down the line)

May be a delay while emissions are triple-checked...

Probably. Hopefully they didn't do anything stupid. From the tone they took after the VW thing it seemed they've really found a good design from an efficiency/emissions standpoint

what i understand about the VW bs is it only takes a slight reprogram of the computer, and one model , change the air inlet pipe shape!

all is well , but it really put a hurt on sales for VW, shame how people are dupped so easily!

Quite a few of the VW diesels need a lot more than that. (Maybe all of them do?)
