Default x type diesel. Will it die?

Hi. I have an x type diesel. I went quite fast tonight using all the throttle and revs then pulled into a fuel station to get some supplies. When I went to start it it wouldn't. The engine management light was on plus glow plug flashing. Unfortunately I don't have a code reader yet. I called the tow truck. After about 20 minutes I tried it again and it started with no problems. I carried on with my journey and it seemed ok. Ive recently changed the valves on a couple of injectors and its been fine for thousands of miles. I did let it run low on fuel so im worried some swarf might have got into the injectors? Any help would be much appreciated.

start by changing fuel filters, they should catch any debris in fuel system!
