Default Unfreezing the clutch

Many know I drive my ETYPE ALOT.
The last three months I haven't as much due to my son getting married!
Yes impossible as he is 27 and I'm only 18 mentally
So the weather in the northeast had been 100 degrees everyday for 90 days and 100% humidity.
In 30 years I never had a frozen clutch on my ETYPE. Other cars yes but never on the E.
Pushed it on the lift as it would go in gear not running, but once you start the car you cannot get it in gear.
1. On the lift, checked the clutch slave, brand new moving in and out.
2. throw out bearing moving freely
3. fingers on pressure plate moving in and out no broken springs, all is good.
So we push it out to the street, rocking did NOTHING.
Next put it in gear and started the car rolled forward but would not release, I drove it half a block!
Grinding the key away.
Then tried in reverse, sounds ugly, but after 5 feet and a HUGE BANG!
The clutch popped, it sounded ugly, but I just finished a 200 mile weekend run. My God it runs sweet!
So to all the engine pullers, 5 speed or nothing sayers, after 30 years, The etype is still a great car!
Hope this helps others, off to the mountains next week for a fall run of about 500 miles for the weekend!

I used a similar technique many years ago when the clutch froze on my brother's XK150. Drove it a bit in first gear then slowed down, clutch pedal down, brakes on and "bang" she went. Certainly not a technique for any except the brave.
Glad it worked for you too.

Sticking clutch plates on Jaguars is a well-known problem going back decades. I can remember reading about it in the 80s when I was restoring a Mark 2. Fortunately, I never had it on a Jaguar but did when my mechanic re-commissioned my MG Midget. It had been standing for 14 years so maybe not so surprising.
