Default Chrome Body Side Moulding Question - X Type

Hey Guys,

Newbie here...got my hands on a beautiful 04 x type with under 25K. Don't want to over do it but the more I look at the car I think chrome body side molding to match the front and rear would be a nice touch. Problem is I don't see any x jags that have chrome body side molding and other than universal kits don't see nothing else available anywhere that looks like the factory style painted moldings.

Any comments, ideas or where I could get the molding would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

You could try trim from a different year model and see if it would measure up. That's the only suggestion I can think of, unless Ken at Britishparts dot com can think of something. Email or PM him and ask him.

Or, pop off the factory body side molding pieces and have someone chrome them for you? There must be someplace near you that does chrome plating?

Well I looked at the ebay universal...not what I am looking for. The auto parts stores is where you find the same molding...universal...I am thrashing around the idea of removing the factory molding and have that chromed. But first a trip this weekend to some car lots to measure doors and look at molding styles for some ideas. I do not want to take a step back here with this. I really like the style of the factory molding. Just like to be allittle diffrent from the rest of the crowd. I think "factory style" body side chrome would add the touch.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Mike , just remember some guys here are new school (ahemmm, you know who you are), I believe on some Jaguars chrome is a necessity. Since our S is Joyces daily, its what makes her happy!!!! I (we) are old school we like the shiny stuff. Just as a reference, the headlamp bezels, taillamp bezels, mirror covers, side marker rings and window pillars came to about $325.00 (US) shipped again from Mina.

So far no luck.
Britishpart.com = No.
Jagbits = sorry can not help.
Mina Gallery = we do not carry that.
My local body shop...who I must say is awesome...guy wiped out my (then) 95 Z28...one of 4500 made...painted in mystic teal..over 10 grand in damage...they rebuilt the car to perfection...I guess I should be greatful the car was parked & I was not in it....anyway....NO.

I am not one to give up easy...emailed Brite trim.com....see what they have to say.

Rick...so far did the front & rear chrome ( Lights ) adds a very nice touch...spent my Sunday walking around parking lots looking at molding...while my wife was shopping for Coach handbags...well she lucked out...spent my money...and I came up with nothing...other than some stange looks from people....hahaha.

LOL sounds like something I would do as the wifey is shopping! But I would have timed it so I could have a cold 1 or 3 at the nearst watering hole. As far as the chrome molding bummer..... Keep your eyes peeled on passing vehicles and see if some other car manufacturer has what your looking for.

Gee...i'm not one to give up so quickly...but this one got me stumped...NOTHING out there....my whole idea was to keep my factory wheels...( I do like them ) and add some small detail to the side of the car...guess I'll be leaning the other way now... (maybe) a nice set of chrome wheels....anybody got pic's or ideas...I'm leaning on the Coventry Hornet or Zinik > Z18 Minardi Chrome Plated wheels as of now.

Hey Rick,

Yes I saw that molding before...just not what I was looking for...but I appreciate your support and keeping me in mind.

Looks like I will not be a winner here...went to the International Motor Cycle show in New York City in January...spoke to many people there that specialize in chroming auto & bike parts. Looks like the Jaguar factory type molding is not a canidate to be chromed....if it was made of metal...than yes....I wanted to stay with the factory style molding and the only options is to replace with aftermarket plastic stuff which has square cut ends.

Working on finishing up my audio upgrade as of now...maybe after that I will look again for more options....maybe nice custom wheels instead.
