Default Ian Callum discusses various topics

I wasn't sure what topic this should be posted under, I put it here because it specifically mentions the F pace.

Jaguar design boss Ian Callum: ?I swore I?d never design the F-Pace? | Top Gear

I read this earlier today, good read, I was glad to see Callum say that if he was offered a job elsewhere he'd stay with Jaguar. I'm curious what he has in store for the next generation of design, I'm guessing it'll get kicked off with the new XJ. I know many shun the F-Pace but I actually like it, and let's be honest they would have to be stupid to overlook this segment.

"The XE and XF share our new architecture, and that’s really the first all-new Jaguar saloon architecture since the first XJ in 1969. All the rest have been adaptations, or things we inherited from Ford."

What about XJ40? That was a clean sheet of paper and nothing came from Ford. It was completely different from the Series I-III cars. Considering how long the basics of XJ40 lasted, from 1986 up to 2003 it was an amazing piece of engineering for such a small company as Jaguar was in the 70's and 80's.

I think it's sharp.

with respect I am not fan of Ian Calumm, i think the xj from 2003 to 2009 with the air suspension was a bad car, i do not think the new XJ had the success it should have deserved, I hate the xf and all new jags, even the F type i find it too small. he did the db9 long ago that was ok, but for me its already past.

I had this problem on the 2007 facelift xj, where the steering column had so much stuff added it has diluted the steering feeling. not to mention the 4 air shocks were a real bummer. i had a car 2004 the dealer said he never saw that before it was handling like a boat . I had 3 of these air shocks xj kind....

I think maybe like an old guy but the xj serie type3 were fabulous in design.
and i had 10 of these jags during 2000 and 2014.
