Exclamation Meridian Audio System

My 770w system causes the doors to vibrate at moderate speaker volume. . Playing at about 25 on the volume scale, certain low frequencies cause something in the doors to vibrate. Have turned down the bass but it loses what the stereo is designed to do. I took it to the dealer and they said they tried another F-Type and it does the same thing. They said that there are no fixes from Jaguar so there is nothing they can do. Any ideas? I am calling Jaguar today.

The thing I am curious about is whether this could be fixed by going to a high-end car audio shop and having them fasten things down better.

Well my plan is if I want to listen to music I drive the M. If I want to listen to the sound of the sixties I drive the Jag.

I have the B&O too. It's pretty good once calibrated properly.

180W at 20% of full volume causes the driver - never mind the doors - to vibrate.

That 770W has a similar effect at low volume should not come as a surprise.

I think you meant the 380W base system, and I agree it doesn't take much to make it painful. I have to wonder why one needs so much power in such a small space, and after hearing all the gripes about the ''premium" system, am very grateful that my car has the base system. It sounds really good.

Having said all that, if Jaguar is going to offer all that power in such a tiny space, they owe it to their customers to engineer it so that it works without vibrating the panels off the car.

I have the 780w system and it sounds great.. no vibration and I play it loud at times, but not usually to the point of ear bleeding.

My only gripe is that when in the 'Meridian' setting the rear speakers are totally silent. So, I use the DTS setting and the surround is good, depending on source.
For instance the FM radio 'source' quality is variable from the perspective of the rear speaker coming in, even in the DTS setting....however, if I use an USB source or CD, the rear's are consistently in.

The car is garaged for the winter, in the spring I will take it to the dealer to see about the 'Meridian' setting not bringing in the rear speakers.
Lawrence.

I don't think anything needs tightening inside your doors, your woofers need get a better seal and perhaps the doors could use some sound damping.

Any good mechanic should be able to eliminate rattles regardless of the source (road surface or sound system). Removal of the door panels and liberal application of moleskin tape wherever components, panels or wiring harnesses meet will address that particular problem.

You might think so. A large number of owners here who have sought resolution will tell you otherwise.

Has anyone checked to see if the speaker diaphrams are torn?

just need to get some dynomat put in

Everyone with the problem should write a review on Jags site and include it in it. For the US go here http://www.jaguarusa.com/all-models/...ews/index.html

I took delivery of my car 2 weeks ago and have none of these issues with the sound system. I have the premium system and it works great. No rattles, buzzing etc. and the sound from the rear speakers is fine. My car was built in November so maybe they resolved the issues by then.

Have the issues occured more in the convertible than the coupe as I have the coupe?

I had a buzzing left door at higher volumes, but I also only have the basic system.

Most problems seem to have been reported by those with upgrades.
