Hello, I was wandering if someone could help me. I'm a little confused as to whether the optional in control App package is a pre-requisite to enable all the exciting opportunities advertised by Jaguar to pre-warm you car etc. I declined the option but would like the remote access ability? I can't recall the dealer advising on the matter. Any help appreciated, can the app be retro fitted to the f type? Thanks.

 

Don't know about the UK, but across the pond the MY2016 cars will have the necessary hardware and software (InControl Apps or Connect?) to allow the InControl Remote app (start, fuel) to do its thing as it will be built in.

The InControl apps option, which was optional for $$'s in MY2015, won't be able to do it.

The latest JLR InControl system has Secure, Protect and Connect. "InControl Connect includes Remote Premium. This provides additional features to the Remote Essentials App allowing you to remotely pre-heat or pre-cool the car. InControl Connect also features Jaguar InControl Apps. Simply download Jaguar InControl Apps to your smartphone. You can then connect your smartphone via the USB port to display compatible Apps on the Touch-screen in the centre console."

This what I understand. There is not a lot of info yet but it is getting rolled out in XE and LR too.
