Our opinions are obviously biased, but interesting results so far:

$30K is a significant amount for most buyers of these cars. And realistically, you are looking at a $115K fully load R versus a $160K loaded GT S, so it's actually more like $40+K difference. At that price difference it's hard for me to justify since it doesn't have the killer looks or cache of say a Ferrari...

My good friend has an AMG gullwing with the big v8 and it is super fast in a straight line.. problem is, its a harsh ride and the *** end is very prone to trading places with the front.. more so than the F.

Anyway, just for looks, its the Jag. for me, however I appreciate the engineering and overall expertise that went into the design of the AMG and certainly all other fine cars like it.

Price might be a big factor, no deals and more than $30k more with options.

I'm guessing price and looks.

The Jaguar sounds so much better than the Mercedes. To me the Mercedes sounds kind of like a cross between an old Chevy 454 truck and an inboard boat motor.

I finally got up close and personal with a Pearl White GTS. Pulled up next to it dry cleaners. Car is beautiful, interior is very expensive looking, he had a dark brown upgrade. Sound is another matter. I had an AMG and they just don't sound as good as the Jag or for that matter our Maserati. I know looks are subjective and one might prefer the Jag but not because the GT is less good looking. The interior is superior! Performance is another subjective area that the Jag should win. The Merc is a compromise between AMG and Merc comfort on the road. They will sell every one of them and they will still be rarer than our Jags. The owner got his by ordering way out front. He said if it is on the floor it;s because a dealer is marking it up!

The GT is going to be the platform and engine/transmission for the next Aston Martin Vantage. I hope they can do something with the exhaust sound, the V8 Vantage has been around along time, but still one of, if not still the best sounding V8's ever. And the V12 is shear heaven. It would be a real shame if it ends up sounding like the GT, blub, blub, blub, like and old motor boat.
