I would be the first customer.

I don't have the skill set or tools. Our tips are 3.25" diameter by the way.

See, when Unhingd mods his car, he wraps it in real bacon.

There's enough pork on the car already the a little bacon won't be a problem. Besides, when has bacon *ever* been a bad thing?

Anyone remember 'Manifold Destiny', about putting a roast under the hood, and having it cooked when you arrive at your distant destination?

Barely room for a slice of bacon under our hoods.

Sorry, Polaris, back to regularly scheduled programming...

I have a copy and have cooked a chicken in the Land Cruiser's engine compartment. OK...now back to regularly scheduled programming.

How do you guys feel about the fake carbon that adorns the entire console graciously provided to you by JLR? Can't remember anyone even mentioning it. Were drawing lines in the sand now about wrap? Better get with he times it's 2016 gentlemen, but again it would cost a little more to have the pipes wrapped in real carbon if thats the sticking point. Not sure how real CF would stand up to the heat, after all its just a cosmetic tid bit, Not trying to save an oz of exhaust weight.

Anyways, if anyone can make this, they don't necessarily need to install one on their own car if they don't dig it right? I didn't ask who liked it, I just asked who could make a set for me.

Probably be tough to even get an answer now around here.

If you can...just PM me please and let me know what you'd want to do the job.

You can probably buy carbon fiber tubing of the right size and find a way to affix it. Even high-temp RTV would be enough to secure it if the gap is small. A number of companies make carbon fiber tubing. One I found that has larger diameter pieces, and even high-temperature ones, is this company:

Roll Wrapped Twill Finish Round Tubes
High Temp. Carbon Fiber Prepreg Round Tubes

A stock length piece might provide a couple of options for experimentation, e.g. straight versus angle cut.

We're drawing lines in the sand now about CF wrap? Better get with the times - It's 2016 gentlemen wrap is EVERYWHERE. Because you see, a real CF mirror shell, for example, only adds weight and bulk to the mirror but I guess the real difference in thought is that they're offered by Jag themselves in the accessories catalog. Not even sure how real CF would stand up to the heat, after all and since its just a cosmetic tid bit, Not trying to save an oz off exhaust weight.

Anyways, if anyone can make this, they don't necessarily need to install one on their own car if they don't dig it right? I took the advise of the forum and intentionally refrained from asking who liked it and simply asked who could make a set for me as I thought the smart thing moving forward was to just do what I wanted to the car I paid for. Probably be tough to even get an answer around here now though.

If you can...just PM me please and let me know what you'd want to do the job.

Try posting in one of Derek Fricke's threads (or PM him) - he makes real CF stuff. He's been a bit quiet lately.

The Panoramic Roof collects solar heat rather effectively. I was rather surprised at how hot the metal leading edge of the inner shade got and measured it last summer. It was over 175F. That's hot enough to ruin a good steak.

I don't need this to be a major $2k project he would charge to do something like this. I'm not even sure if it'll be something permanent. I'm willing to risk a few bucks to see what they look like at the end of the day. Removable at a whim - trim pieces that simply match my other black carbon fiber wrap on my mirrors and skirt. It's not as serious as you guys seem to be taking it.

Bacon duck tape funny as hell though, I did let out a slight chuckle.

By the way do you think in the vid the tube they used was steel or aluminum.

Personally not a fan of CF (real or otherwise) unless there is a functional purposes (typically weight), but even there the cost doesn't warrant it.
FrickenJag (Derek) might be willing to build those tips for you if you PM him.

You know you can buy carbon fiber tubes in a variety of sizes and then cut them to fit. You might find that an easier path and it'd be real carbon fiber.

Brilliant. The only issue is heat. The other is I would need to see if the tube comes in black CF. If I went wrap, I could just discard or rewrap and it'll match perfectly what I have on my car already without adding a new texture. Ill think on it.

Unhingd, I gathered you would have strong personal feelings about the project. We have to accept that everyone has different objectives....remember? I'll PM him.
