Oh ok, I have the storm wheel and like these a lot more... I guess I'll keep an eye out for a set off a SVR that someone has put other wheels on.
Post pics when you mount them.

The replacement for the damaged wheels arrived today. They look good. Once the car is back from getting the exhaust replaced I'll throw this on and post some photos.

Unhingd is this correct? I used the width offset calculator. My Gyrodyne in the rear were 10.5x20 ET38 wrapped on 295/30/20, now I have the Maelstroms which I believe are 11x20 ET54 wrapped on 305/30/20. According to the calculator.

Inner Clearance: 22.35mm less
Outer Position: retract by 9.65mm
Diameter difference: 0.24" (0.87%)

Does this makes sense? The wheels are looking a bit more tucked in. I don't like it. Trying to determine which size spacers to go with.

You are 100% correct, and the pics confirm that. You should get some 17mm or 20mm spacers to make it look best. You could safely go to 25mm as well, but no more.

Hi zmoothg,

I have a V8 R coupe as well and have just tried fitting a set of SVR maelstroms that I bought (the stock rims were gyrodynes).

I'm facing the same challenge that you describe above - the car sits well at the front but the rears are too tucked in due to the different offset. Did you end up fitting a set of spacers?

Am trying to work out the right thickness spacer in order to get the outer edge of the tyre back to the position it is in with the stock gyrodynes (I'm not too worried about going beyond this). According to the calculation you posted above, I guess the spacer should be 10mm, but visually it looks like the retraction might be more than this.

Really interested to hear what you ended up doing, and your experience of the process.

Thanks a lot,
JP

What is the width and offset on the rear maelstroms?

Hi Unhingd,

Rim width is 11.0", and they are fit with 305/30/20 P-zero's.

As for the offset, I couldn't see this written anywhere on the inner drum of the rim and can't find the spec online, so will try and measure it tomorrow.

zmoothg posted below that the Malestroms are ET54 (vs ET38 on the gyrodynes), but I haven't measured/checked mine yet.

Thanks,

Thanks,
If 54mm is the correct ET, that would place the face of the maelstrom 10mm inboard of the Gyrodyne’s. A10mm spacer is problematic, as the studs are not long enough to get a good bite on the threads. I would recommend a 15 or 17mm adapter.

I bought my spacers from motorsports. If I remember correctly. I went with 10mm spacers all around and it ended being up perfect for me. You might be able to squeeze out a few more mm in the rear, but the 10mm worked nicely. I had to cut about 3mm off each stud with a dremel. That took forever.

here is my post Post

Weren't those adapters rather than spacers?

They look awesome. I would ask them to replace them too, too much $$$ for damaged goods. Enjoy!

The offset is wrong. On that size rim I went 45 front 28 in the back. Perfect fit. Posting pics shortly

There is no doubt that 28mm is the correct offset for 11" wheels as that will put the wheel face in the same location as an OEM rear wheel with a 16mm spacer.

I'm just wondering why the Maelstrom has such a large offset (54mm) compared with other OEM wheels (38mm) even with the wider wheels. That should only account for a 6mm difference, not 16mm. Is it possible that the SVR rear axle is wider than the R hub-to-hub?

You mean a 10mm spacer. OEM is 38mm and I ONLY lowered the car 0.75/0.8"

You are forgetting that the 11" wheel extends the face out 6mm from that of a 10.5" wheel given the same offset.
