I remember Clarkson on Top Gear suggesting the steering wheel airbag should be replaced with a spring loaded steel spike as he felt that would improve driver concentration and focus ;-)

...to quote those "ask for credit wisecrack signs" - please don't ask to borrow as a smack in the face often offends ;-)

"#still hit a lady the day after I installed PDC....."

Agreed, I have it on my SUV but it is permanently turned off, as is collision warning as I never rear end people, coz you know, I look where I'm going! Imagine that!

The huge blind spots are irksome though, no biggy for me but it is for others and that's understandable.

Default Jeremy stole that

That's actually a Milton Friedman observation, he was a famous Chicago School free market economist in the 1970s and '80s, and perhaps the last public intellectual worth anything. He was making a point about drivers feeling overly safe in cars with airbags, and that airbags were actually counterproductive because people felt safer and drove more recklessly. His thesis, that Jeremy who famously didn't go to university, stole without credit, was that a spike in the middle of the steering wheel would force people to drive much more cautiously and would thereby reduce accidents. Friedman's idea was at bureaucrats were focused on the effects ie. injured people and deaths from car accidents, but it would be much smarter to focus on the cause, which was recklessness encouraged and enabled by overly safe vehicles, especially American ones.

If my cars had those, I'd stick a tennis ball on them. Then, continue to drive as I am accustomed.

Wait...was that the origin of the phrase "***** OUT"? Nahhh
