Default Sports Seats - Retrofit?

My car has standard seats - is it possible to retrofit sports seats? Haven't seem them for sale on any of the Jaguar parts sites.

If it is possible - any ideas on pricing? Got a feeling that it would be prohibitively expensive if possible.

That's been discussed before. I think one of the issues is linking the airbags to your VIN. And I think they're called Performance Seats.

Thanks - did a search for performance seats and see you can buy the various component parts to make up an entire seat. As I guessed looks prohibitively expensive though

Yes, the standard seats are called Sport and the upgrade seats are Performance.

It is not technically impossible to upgrade the seats, but it will cost you dearly if you are going to buy them new. Seats are built from component parts not sold as complete units and I would be surprised if you got much change from $8k per side with the frame, foams, pads, harnesses, covers, door switch packs, the rear trim in the cabin itself, and time spent installing and calibrating everything.

If you find a second hand set your costs would be about 1/4-1/8th of that, but to avoiding having to replace certain components you'd need a donor from the same production range as your target car. If you can find some with the same outward spec (movement options, etc) then replacement will be a lot simpler.

Officially airbags should never be reused in a different vehicle, and I expect you would not be able to register the change with Jaguar. That may introduce an insurance problem in your location (if/when there is another airbag recall or software tweak to resolve safety issues, your vehicle may be at risk). I got around that when I fitted an entire X358 interior into my X350 XJR by retaining the airbags from the original seats.

NAS vehicles have a different occupant classification system to that fitted elsewhere (the sensor pads in the passenger seat - NAS uses a bladder, ROW uses a switch). It is unlikely you would find second hand seats from a different region in North America, but in Europe at least it is not unusual to find NAS parts commonly offered for sale in used part marketplaces.

Thanks for the responses - definitely not worth the $ and effort.
