Default V6 Resonator Delete: Done! Go do it! **NOW WITH VIDEO**

2015 F Type Coupe Base..no Active Exhaust. Decided to take one for the team and go to my local muffler shop and had the premuffler cut off and straight pipes welded on. Long story short..best $85 spent. NOW WITH VIDEO!!!!

Observations:
-Backfire pops and snaps are MUCH more pronounced. In fact just blipping the gas at 4000rpm results in a machine gun fire of pops and snaps about 3-5 seconds long
-There is no drone. No rasp. Not ricey sounding at all.
-Very subtle difference in overall tone. Just slightly deeper.
-There is a very pleasant yet subtle burble in the cabin.
-At idle, nice burble observed which we all know was lacking.

Theory:
By removing the premuffler, I feel that its one less mechanism the backfires, pops, burbles, etc have to go through thus making them MUCH more pronounced.

**UPDATE**

It turns out that we have a V6S w/ active exhaust in our company fleet. I will record both cars later on my lunch.

**UPDATE**
Side by side comparison of a V6S w/ active exhaust and my car videos uploaded!
-The V6S has the edge with the snap, crackle and pop while revving at a standstill
-The base with the premuffler removed has taken on a nice burble tone when revving down toward the end of the video
-This mod definitely added a bit more growl and the snap, crackle and pop to the base car
-Our receptionist who filmed it said that the base car sounded more crisp and deeper compared to the V6S.

I feel like you just made your car into active exhaust mode, but only paid $85 for it. Course there's no video... hint hint

Not exactly, since the same pipes with valves on active exhaust cars are open all the time on the base car. The active cars do have J-shaped pipes diverting around the closed valves into the main muffler box, which the base cars do not have. To my ear, base cars are much louder than active exhaust cars with the valves closed.

However, I am intrigued with this and would love to hear the sound. I'm very happy with the loudness of the base exhaust system, and my passengers always comment on how loud it is. I'm not sure I'd want it louder, but I'd love to hear it with this mod.

Like mine, your base car was transformed with the Gyrodynes. It looks like a completely different car--very nice!

How do you like them, and what's your impression of the handling and ride differences on the larger, wider tires?

Sounds really good, but very similar, albeit deeper, to my car. I know this is a subjective question, but how much louder is it?

Its definitely louder than the stock base exhaust. The consensus from the guys that have heard it next to a V6S with Active Exhaust...its just as loud if not marginally louder.

I really appreciate you experimenting with this and sharing the results. I'm a bit torn because I'm reasonably satisfied with the current volume, but there are times, when it would be nice to have a little more.

When you are driving normally...its just as quiet. Its when you romp on it is when you can really hear the difference.

I've been meaning to get a solid review out after driving the car for a 1000 miles on the new setup. I'll start a new thread later.

Sound nice and not that much different from my R on start up (with closed valve):

Thanks again. If that's the case, I'll most certainly end up doing it.

I must say, I like the V6S better. Removing the resonator has taken the nice deep tone and made it more high pitched. That being said, I definitely like the V8 sound more than the V6, so that could have something to do with my feelings.

Sounds tinny and fart-pipe-ish to me whereas before it had a rich, powerful tone but hey...to each their own.
