2005 X-Type phone pairing? - THREAD CLOSED
I have a 2005 X Type that I have had for a couple years now. It is not a touch screen and doesn't have the Nav system, but it does have the keypad for the phone, and the phone symbol buttons. I bought it used and was told the phone works but have never gotten it to. Although to be honest, I give up too fast. I am going to attach a pic of what the unit looks like. anyone who can help....I'd appreciate it. I have tried pushing the left phone symbol, it just says "no phone" the other phone symbol does nothing. when I try pushing the # or * symbol, nothing happens. Its as if I did nothing. I had my iphone in pair mode. Thanks in advance for your help. I'd really like to get the full use of my car if possible.

The factory fitted Jaguar Bluetooth equipment is similar across the model range so I've left your question in General Tech Help.
All vehicles are fitted with phone controls on the audio unit and the steering wheel but only a very few original buyers opted to have the expensive Bluetooth option fitted.
You could ask any Jaguar Dealer to check the build specification to see if your vehicle does have OE Bluetooth fitted or you can check it yourself with the following procedure:
1. select Phone Mode by pressing the Phone symbol button
2. use the keypad to enter the sequence ##3#*#
3. press the Send/End button (phone handset symbol)
4. if the screen then shows Discover Me you have Bluetooth fitted
If you do have Bluetooth fitted, use the menu functions on your phone to make it discoverable. When Jaguar device is found on the mobile phone display, the phone will prompt you to enter the pass key on the mobile phone keypad. The pass key is 1313

That vehicle does NOT have bluetooth. It is pre-wired for it, but not installed.
I've attached the X-Type Accessories booklet. On page 12 it shows the 2 parts necessary to make it work on your vehicle. Maybe you can find them used...
>>>>> There is an open recall on your vehicle. It is J004, and is just a reprogramming of your ECU (engine computer). It takes about an hour to do, but the vehicle has to cool down for an hour or so before it can be programmed.
>>>>> It will cost you nothing to get it done.
Here is your vehicle's build sheet:
Features Equipment:
Front Ashtray
* Automatic Transmission
Bonnet Leaper
