Failing Oxygen Sensor Orientation Test

Failing Oxygen Sensor Orientation Test
I have a 96 XJS.
I am trying to complete an oxygen sensor orientation using a Mongoose and IDS v134. Everything goes well until about 70% into the process where it ends abruptly and tells me I've failed.
What can cause this?
The oxygen sensors are about 6 months old.
I did replace the exhaust manifolds, and I can't detect a leak. I managed to torque the manifolds against the block to 50 Nm, the front downpipe was torqued to 30Nm. I ended up stripping the bolts to the rear downpipe before I could get to 30Nm, but again, no leak detected.

Back then, I was using an aftermarket mongoose to perform this adaptation.
Either to software crapped out, or the ECU did. If I had to bet, I believe the mongoose clone did something the ECU didn't like and screwed up my ECU. An eventual ECU replacement solved my problem.
I never used the cloned mongoose again. (It did work a few times)
