Question JLR/SDD installation troubles..

Hi guys,

I kept stumbling across threads and info from this forum whenever i google with my SDD/JLR installation troubles. So far learnt a lot so thanks to those who post such information to help.

Anyway, i wondered if someone could help me with my install troubles?. Basically i want a specific version of JLR either 134 or 135. I have all files and tried numerous installs without any luck.

I can get it all installed and the basics work. But there's 2 things i cant get working.

1. Combined as-built calibration file update (the SoftwareManager just won't launch, it tries to but then closes). Is there any way to get this working?

2. Same with TABMAN, tries to open then closes and disappears.

Both happen whether i use a patch or not. Still happens. Any help?

I have tried installing v130 and calib updates works fine, tried v137 again calib updates work fine. Its just v134/135 its not working for, and these are the versions i need working as i am also using v86 IDS for fords so the firmware must match my v86 install.

I tried installing net framework 3.5 SP1 as i thought maybe it was a netframework issue. But still no joy.

Any help please?

Additionally, if you have hacked software no one can offer help unfortunately... If you do have legit software do a fresh install on a XP version of Windows.

Plus to jag? ironically he seems to be the one helping out in all the cracked software threads. Such as this: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...-139099/page2/

When i said with and without patch, i was just explaining to all i have gone down all avenues without success. LEGIT way including.

Done xp install freshly about 15 times.

The problem is something else that somebody, somewhere knows.

v130 i can get updates
v134 cannot
v135 cannot
v137 cannot

Why old version is working to communicate with jaguar server but newer ones aren't?? it has to be something to do with some small software adjustment.

Because the software changed to SDD2 from 131.03 onward. SDD2 has additional protections to prevent people from using out of date versions.

The firmware for the VCM is different between JLR and Ford/Mazda so your quest to have the same firmware for different versions will be in vain. You cannot use JLR SDD with Ford/Mazda firmware it won't communicate.

Okay thanks. I was told the firmware is the same if the versions were released at roughly the same time. I have the VCMii and it works on both ford v86 and jlr v137 without any firmware changing (message doesn't pop up).

Ok that aside, do you know the way around the calib/as-buit updating?. I have a topixx account and even logged in it doesn't work to download the updates i need, that is why i hunted online to find a patch which still didn't work.

I have no reason to use newer version software and tbh i can't spend any more money to get that.

Ah VCM2, I thought you meant the original VCM.

The VCM2 was never officially meant to be used with SDD, even though it can work as a J2534 passthrough device same like a DA-Dongle, DA-VINA or MongoosePro. The Bosch VCM manager handles the firmware so in theory you could just copy the VCM manager from one version to the other.

I do something similar with my VCM, so that it's the same firmware for different versions of JLR IDS and JLR SDD so no firmware updates needed when swapping between versions.

If you install an old version of SDD then you need to set the PC date to the release date of that version, and in theory if you keep the PC at that date it won't "need" any calibration file updates.

BUT, if you need calibration file updates for a vehicle then you're going to have to manually copy the files into the folder.

The software is a free download. You look good to go.
