Default Texas here I come

just been asked to relocate from Dubai to Texas and Im loathe to leave my mint 2009 model XJ 8 4.2 Sovereign behind. Having done only 25000 miles and in perfect condition I would love to take this with me to the US, however initial research it looks to be an almost impossible task. Any suggestions would be very very welcome. The CAR is GCC spec which doesn't mean anything other than the documentation is in Arabic.

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Center to General Tech Help forum. The Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum.

I can't offer any advice on the practicalities of importing a vehicle to the US but the spec of yours will be to Jaguar Middle East market. At the minimum this will be ECM matched to available fuel/emissions standards and exterior lighting to country regulations. There may be some changes required to meet US specs.

We've had questions before about obtaining English vehicle approvals documentation from Jaguar in other languages and this has been available so Arabic to English is likely to be the same.

I live in Texas and work in Dubai. I will be there at the end of next week. Please let me know what problems you are having and I will see if I can find more information for you. I was going to bring one of my Camaros to Dubai and it was not an issue. Not sure why it would be going the other way. Let me know if I can help.

Scoita:

An employer's Human Resource Department, once known as the Personnel Department might be of assistance.

Employed or independent contractor?

If employed, same company? Or if a new employer, that department
may have access to resources.

The only time I've moved cars was in service from USA to Germany
and back. But, the army did all. No issue in 55 with my Belgian assembled 50 Chevrolet.

OTH, in about 70, wife's dad in Germany wanted to give her his MBZ.
Investigation found costs and fixes too much.

But, Grey market cars were once popular. Various fixes to make them DOT compliant. A lot of boondoggery....

As JagCad said, if your work is moving you, you can get a letter stating that and it will help you move the car over. I also had a German neighbor who brought his German spec BMW to the states with no issues. He employer stated he would be move back eventually and it was not a problem.

Thank you for your feedback. As you say, importing vehicles into Dubai is relatively straight forward as the emission laws are relatively straight forward. The hurdle I have faced appears to be related to this subject, US specification appears very stringent with engine mods being required. I have sought profession advice from the company handling the relocation of my personal effects so hopefully they come back soon with some positive news. Thanks again.
