Floor mats replacement
#2
Picked up some new socks for Growler this month, based on recommendations here. The car still had original floor mats hiding in the trunk. Figured with the car being so old and so minty, that I'd keep them without further use. You guys have had some good threads on subject of replacement mats, so I ordered some customs up from Autoetc on ebay. Prairie Tan. Plush. Leaper in kelly green to reflect the BRG car. While the color in the flash shot seems a bit more gold than in reality, in fact the color complements the two beige tones already in the XKR. Fit is great. Quick service. No complaints. These seem at least as solid as the original mats, which lacked the leaper

For anyone who is interested here is a side-by-side pic of an XK stock mat (left) vs the Autoetc mat (right) from eBay. I picked up the eBay mats because I was missing the mat for the driver's side. The stock mat is a firmer feel and matches the carpet exactly while the Autoetc mat has a plusher carpet and a larger logo (I do like the larger logo).

Another vote for AutoETC
I just received a set of front carpets, in 'Praire', with a logo in Red.
I got the 'plush upgrade' and they're significantly better than the OEM (caramel) mats.
Nicely made. I ordered them thru EBay, which was a mistake (as well as unnecessary overhead for them), because the 'upgrade' and 'logo' options didn't work.
I had to email Dena anyway (she sorted it out), so going directly is quicker anyway. A quick search on this website will turn-up their contact info.
They do 'custom' quantities too: she quoted me for just 1 mat (drivers side Honda Pilot). Its unusual to be able to just get one....

Got 2 sets of mats for my XKR and my XJ last night from autoetc. Very nice quality, perfect fit. I thought I had ordered heel pads, but they were not included. However, I have ability to add if I desire in our upholstery shop. Ordered the black with burgundy logo and lettering to match my Cardinal Red exterior and black with silver for my silver XJ.

I ordered a set of mats from Autoetc about a year and a half ago. I too had wanted to order the heel pad, but it was not included. I can tell you that the quality on these mats is not good at all. Almost immediately, they began to shed clumps of material all over the place. I thought perhaps its just a breaking-in thing, but they have continued to shed even a year and a half later. There's a great big hole where my heel has punched through, all four mats are flimsy and thin, the rear mats NEVER stay in place and are always getting bunched up. All-in-all, these have not held up.

I used this fix on another car for the heel pad issue. So many carpets have the problem of accelerated wear in the heel area. Surprised they are not all made with a good rubber heel plate.

Bought a set of plush Lloyd mats for my XJR - beutiful but they would not put the Jaguar logo on - had to settle for my initials. Just received a set of Avery (Touring) mats from Automat store . Great service including sending me samples to verify the colour I wanted. The mats were a coffee colour and had the logo made in green to match the car. To my door with 5 days of settling the colour.

Auto Etc. does not do Jaguar logos anymore....
FYI,
I checked and called them; they no longer provide the Jaguar logo that others shown last year. I searched for weeks and finally found this company World Upholstery & Trim www.worlduph.com and they will do any year Jaguar even ones not on their drop down list with the Jaguar logo!
Here is my Jaguar 65' 3.8s that is not listed in their drop down but they do make it and they came out great! I think the embroidery is better than the pics of the Auto Etc.

Auto Etc gets varied reviews on the forum. Some members absolutely love them but other are disappointed.
I've had OE Jaguar embossed mats on my last XK8 and current XK. This is from the 2005 XK8:
The definition of the white logo and lettering is not very crisp after a few years use even though there ar no signs of wear on the black mat.
It will be interesting to see how the embroidered logo and lettering from World Upholstery & Trim stands up to wear.
