Default Identifying my gearbox

Can anyone help with identifying where my gearbox came from.
My Mk 2 is a 61 model so wouldn't have had syncro on first from the factory. The box that is fitted has KFN9377 on the side.
The overdrive unit is fitted but the cross member has been modified a couple of inches further forward.

I'm having occasional gear selection issues (and jumping out of 3rd if you peddle it.) so it's time to replace the box.

I'm still undecided which way to go, rebuild the box that's in it and probably the overdrive or go for a T5 conversion.

Any help appreciated.

My understanding is that the "N" in the prefix letters indicates that the gearbox mainshaft is suitable to accept an overdrive unit.
