MK2 Daily driver engine swap Modern type S
so I have acquired 3 MK2's in various states.
One I intent to do full restoration on, it has some rust issues, but is complete enough.
However one, is a very solid shell from a Daimler, with a bunch of jag parts tossed in.
theres no way to bring this one back to stock, but the shell is amazingly straight and solid except for a missing front fender.
My thoughts are to build a daily driver, with modern running gear, with stockish trim.
the modern Jaguar V8's and stock MK2 front suspension, will this fit? is there enough room?
I know LS v8s have been fitted, but a S type 4.0 or 4.2 running Megasquirt may be what I want for a classy looking Daily driver.
alternately, if the V8 wont do the trick, I;ll have to start looking for a quad valve straight 6 from a 90's Jag.

FYI, yes you can fit a modern V8 from Jaguar V8's like what Doug has done on this forum or a GM as I have done. To me either way is a great end product for a daily driver but it is NOT an easy feat nor a cheap endeavor but a great car when it is all done. For reliability a modern fuel injected computer controlled engine is best and to me a V8 is the way to go as these cars really are under powered. A straight 6 that is a modern version may be reliable but still a lot of work and the car will not be that competitive compared to new cars.
If you want to see an ideal Jaguar V8 installed in a Mark2 check out XJR Mark2 posting on this forum from Doug; it is a fantastic build but when you see what is involved you better make sure you have the money and resources as that is not an easy project. Or if you are open to a GM LS swap check out my posting documenting my build.

Doing the old classic Jaguar saloons into a high quality performance restomod is not an easy feat since there is always custom work but if you are ok with some of the 1970's to newer Jaguar sedans then you should contact Andrew at Jaguar Specialties as he has kits for a number of Jaguars and is super helpful for both new and old parts to help in a conversion.
Jaguar Specialties
I personally highly recommend using the modern LS engines as everyone wants those and carbureted V8's really hurt the value of the car.
