Default Aloha! Noob from Hawaii contemplating a 2001 XKR

Aloha Everyone,

I'm a long time car enthusiast. I'm the owner of a 1964 Volvo 1800 that was featured on Petrolicious. Here's the link:

(you might have to copy it..)

Right now I am getting pretty close to buying a 2001 XKR - this is a car I've had my eye on for a long time. The car is on Oahu and I'm on Kauai, so I have to make sure I get a decent car/deal. I did use this forums' tips on what to look for in when buying a used XKR and it was very helpful.

So that's a little about me. I'm going to pop over to the X100 forum and see what other things I can learn.
All the best, John

Hello, John,
We're all addicted to cars. Even if they can only sit in our garages for 10 or 11 months of the year, or there's no real place to drive, we still Must Have That Car!!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum John,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. I enjoyed the Volvo, the watches and the philosophy.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKRforum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums and I hope the Oahu XKR checks out OK.

Graham

Thanks everyone. I've been a member of many forums in the past...I love them because sometimes you really need help (like me, now) and other times you can really help out someone new. I'll post the details of this car I'm looking at and see what people think. Mahalo!

Welcome John. Kauai is just about the most beautiful place I've been and certainly my favorite of the Hawaiian islands. With all the bottlenecks for traffic there, however, I think I'd be a bit frustrated having an XKR there!

As that XKR is older than 2003, make very sure the timing chain tensioners have been replaced and upgraded!

I LOVE the P1800! My future project car. Welcome.
