Sam welcome to the forums. This is where you would post you introduction, something to the effect of:

Hi I am Sam, I am a Jaguar enthusiast. I am glad I came across this site in my search for knowledge, etc....... I am glad to be here...etc... again......

For help on your 1998 XJ8, there is a section within this forum to ask technical questions about your vehicle specifically.

Again welcome to the forum!

Hi samsam and welcome to the forum.

Or you could get out the tin opener if you dont have an angle grinder.
