New Jag owner
I am a new Jag owner with a 2001 X8 4.0 Cardinal Red Convertible. The car has 55,000.00 miles and is in great condition. I am from the Shore area of New Jersey and look forward to the summer with the top down.
I posted earlier with a question about the chain tension brackets and was advise that they are the first generation plastic and should be changed to third generation. I appreciate the quick response and the advice.
With that in mind, is the job a complicated one that my normal mechanic could handle or should I use a Jag specialist? Should I change the water pump and thermostat at that time? Any ideas on the cost of this job?
I am a Jag novice and appreciate any and all feedback.
Thanks, WJP

Welcome to the forum WJP,
(I've just posted another reply in your tensioner thread before reading this thread)
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I know you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
The work you are planning is regularly carried out as a DIY project by members so if you have a regular mechanic you trust, he should certainly be able to do the repairs and upgrades for you.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
