New to Jaguar... 01 XJR 24k mi
Hi,
On the verge of pulling the trigger on a low mile 2001 XJR. I am located in Rhode Island. Never owned a Jag before.
With that being said... I don't have a garage. Do any others not have a garage and live in climates with extreme weather. If so, how do you keep out of the elements and maintain your vehicle?
Also, anyone purchase extended warranties or service plans? What providers? Recommended to have with an older vehicle? What's the good and bad about them?
Thank you in advance,
-Chris

Hello, Chris,
I wish you success on your Jaguar hunt.
I have always had a garage for whatever car I'm driving at the time, even in Montana's winters, have never seen the need for extended warrantees of any kind as I've always done most of my own work and they would never have paid for themselves.
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where others with experience closer to yours will be able to advise you.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Chris,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I'm sure many members from all parts of the World will not have garaging available for their Jaguars - it wouldn't put me off buying one! Maintenance is another matter. If your facilities or mechanical skills are not up to doing it yourself, then you best find a good independent as dealer costs will be high. Extended warranties have had mixed reports on the forum.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA North East Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-north-east-me-nh-vt-ma-ri-ct-nj-ny-pa-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Thank you for your responses.
Honestly, I have very little mechanical skills to fix the vehicle on my own. I have identified an independent shop in my area to service the vehicle, which I know will be more expensive than doing the work myself...which is not much of an option. I am just slightly concerned with having the vehicle out in the elements. I would look to garage the vehicle for the winter of course.
Anyone have a bit more info about the extended warranty? Is it good for major things such as a blown motor? and whats a ballpark price for it?
Thank you for the advice and I will update my signature

The best place for that question is General Tech Help as it's not model specific.
More members will see it in General Tech Help than here at the end of your Intro thread.
