Default Newby to the Jag Forum

Hello everyone! First time posting on a Jag forum and I have a feeling I'll be lurking around for some time. I just ran across a 30 year old barn find that I couldn't turn down. it's a 1970 XKE 2+2 6 cylinder 4 speed with 68,000 miles. The car has been in the owners possession since 1997. He has an unfortunate situation where a spark in the trunk started a fire and burned out the interior. The car was torn down, sand blasted and put in primer. It's been like that for years as its been stored indoors. All parts are there with the exception of the interior. (Seats are there but no covers) The car also came with additional new parts (brake rotors, triple Webber carbs in addition to stock carbs, and many various parts that were bought as he was planning on restoring it back to its original condition) All parts major parts are there...perfect bonnet, doors are good, complete exhaust, motor, transmission, body, frame etc. Prior to the fire the engine was rebuilt and he has over $5,000 in that rebuild. My question is do I rebuild the car to stock, modify it for racing or ???
I'm anxious to see what direction I take this to..
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations!!

Whether you rebuild it stock or race it is Entirely up to YOU! It's YOUR car, and therefore YOUR decision how to use it, no one else should decide for you. You'll have strong supporters and detractors in both camps (especially as it's not a 12) but it's still YOUR car!

That must have been Very disheartening to the owner though; put all that money into such a sought after Icon of Jaguarania, only to have all the smoke let out of the inside. Leaving it unrepaired for so long shows just how disheartened he was.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
