Two days as an owner and I broke it
Hi Guys.
First, thank you all for the wealth of useful information that I've read so far. I'm sure that as I move forward with this car, I'll be here a lot.
Last Friday I bought a 1997 xk8 convertible. The seller informed me that the check engine light was the result of needing to replace the air intake hose. He seemed like an honest guy, so I probably didn't question it as thoroughly as I should have. Needless to say, after driving it home (400 miles from seller to my house, the car smelled a little of gas, but otherwise ran pretty good) I swapped out the old hose with a new one, and instead of making it run better, it has stopped running altogether. After a little reading, I got up this morning and cleaned the throttle body and the mass air flow sensor, but still no love. She turns over just fine, but almost immediately stalls and dies. If I rev the gas it will stay running for a while, but as I ease back on the gas she idles rough and eventually dies.
I could really use some suggestions here.
Thanks for the help

Welcome to the forum LoveHerTopless,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
First step in troubleshooting powertrain issues on a Jaguar is to have the codes read.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the XX8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. It's the place to post tech questions about your model. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Mid West Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-mid-west-il-ia-mi-mn-mo-oh-wi-39/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

my code reader should arrive today. went ahead and purchased a new mass air flow sensor since it ran rich from the time I got it and fiddling around in that area caused the new issue. I'm also concerned that it is the throttle body some how not being synced properly after I scrubbed it out with Max Flow yesterday.
Would love some feed back before I get to work on her when the parts arrive.
thanks
