Default Audi

Hi all. I'm considering a 2004 Audi A4, 1.8t, auto trans. I've read about the sludge problems with the 1.8t. Car fax shows services performed but not the details.
Anyone have experience with these cars?
Thanks in advance

Marty

Not specifically with the A4. I've heard they can have issues with the turbo though. You may want to check out audiforums.com since they are set up by model type. I had an A6 but it had the 2.8 V6.

The first two didn't check out. Ended up getting a 2004 A4 3.0l quattro, sports suspension silver with dark blue top & interior. 121000 mostly highway miles.Dealer is installing right bank cat converter to pass emissions test.

My first car was an Audi. It was many years ago, and it was much older than a 2004 model, but I still have a soft spot for the marque. I've got to say that Audi has been making some really good looking cars for the past 10-15 years.

Default Audis

Currently own 2 - 2003 allroad that I bought new, currently has 108000 on it. Typical issues with the air suspension - replaced all with Arnott and Bilstein at around 80k. then had to replace the fronts but Arnott covered under warranty. only couple other small issues over the last 12 years. also have a 2013 A6 3.0T, only 22k on it but already replaced the brake pads with Akebono ceramis to eliminate the Audi squeek. Otherwise no issues.

Had a 2012 TT roadster, fun but not practical and many years ago a 1984 5000 wagon. good maintenance is a key on the European marques in my experience (also owned Volvos and now the STR)
Hope you are enjoying the A4
