1987 Jaguar XJ6 III. It was my first car and first car I bought myself. Some stupid driver crashed me head-on and totaled it.

I was living for a while in a place with mountains and a proper winter, next to a country with some roads with no speed limits. At that time I had a WRX, practical in the winter and great fun in the summer.

In Oz I got lucky one company car cycle and ordered a standard silver Commodore (basic GM 4 door family car here) down to steel wheels with hubcaps. It has an LS motor and heavy duty everything underneath and no badges. A corporate sleeper.

I thought I posted here before . Well, it's safe to say 2003 Cadillac Escalade 6.0 V8 . However, had I owned present day's thoughts I would have never bothered buying a one at all , picked up Land Rover Discovery instead

Saw this thread and it started some reminiscing...these are some of my previous vehicles that I miss, for one reason or another...(in no particular order, and I think all of the year designations are correct, but memory isn't as good as it once was):

1969 XKE roadster (red, of course!)
1969 Dodge Super Bee
1977 Fiat 124 Spider
1979 Peugot 504 Diesel Wagon
1979 Subaru Brat (with seats in the bed)
1984 Corvette (T-tops)
1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo
1989 Chevy Suburban (sold after 10 years and 185,000 miles)
2000 Ford Excursion Diesel (sold after 14.5 years and 215,000 miles)

The most recent for me is the 1976 Alfa Giulia Super that left a space in my garage that the Mk 2 now fills. I put in a warmed up 2l drivetrain and a sport suspension. At around 2300 pounds, it was light, agile, and a blast to drive.

Hey Dean,
Good to see you here. My story is similar to yours in that I just sold my 1969 Spider. To make room for the Spider I had to sell my DD 1969 Berlina. The Spider didn't make as good as a DD as Berlina did - for reasons that I was afraid of leaving it parked on the street lest anyone would park their SUV over the Spider's fron or back extremities. As such, it ended up spending way too much time in my garage. I could have ridden the Series 1 price wave but I'd have rather see the Spider go into the right hands, which it did. Now, I am Alfa less and Jag less but I don't think I shall remain so for long.

Perhaps the most fun Daily driver Ive owned. If I ever got bored on a weekend afternoon, a quick run through the canyons would quickly dissipate any doldrums

No digital pics....I must have gone through computers as much as cars...since I would pick them up towards the end of their lives....

Favorites:
1979 Chevy Camaro. (Would eat up carburetors and rear ends)
1994 Infiniti Q45. Sold at 250,000 miles
1978 Buick Regal. Went through 3 Chevy 305 engines.
1962 Cadillac Coupe deVille. Factory buckets. Got a '66 in better shape.
1992 Plymouth Duster V6. Needed a pickup truck.
1995 Cadillac SLS. Only 115k miles....and stepson slammed into it in my driveway.

Oh man, that Ford Falcon up there... I may be an American, but I know of them. I was furious that Ford didn't make such vehicles available stateside. What'd we get? The Fiesta. Oh joy. An unnecessary update to an unpopular roller skate from years prior.

Me, I miss my Lincoln Mark VIIs. The '86 LSC that I fell in love with at the auto auction yard. She was the second Mk VII I ever tried to buy. When I got in that car, it was like I became a part of it. After that one, I came into possession of a '92 LSC. One of the last to roll off the line from the Wixom assembly plant. Dealership package on top of the rare paint option made her all the more special, but sadly it wasn't meant to last.

She may have paved the way for my XJS, but at what cost?

Stargazer, you are right that the Fiesta was not regarded as a fun car when sold new. However, the enthusiasts are realizing the fun potential of the Fiesta and with some go fast goodies it has quite a bit of potential. The demand has risen and so have the prices. How things have changed...

I know this is meant mainly for cars, but my BMW Rockster Edition 80 is one bike I will miss. Just may buy one again down the road...

ENGINE RELATED DETAILS:
*Block bored .030" over (Modine 4 row radiator installed), TRW forgedpistons(8.5 to 1 compression ratio),ARP rod bolts, crank chamfered andpolished, Kenne-Bell 1H hydraulic cam with Stage 1 valve springs, three anglevalve job with bronze liners, 3/8" adjustable pushrods with .045"lifter preload, Mellings high volume oil pump, MSD 5 ignition, Mallory Uniliteconversion(no points), recurved distributor (centrifugal advance=10 degrees at1000 RPM with 22 degrees max at 2000 RPM, 15 degrees vacuum advance, 16 degreesinitial advance), stock Quadra Jet carburetor rebuilt and rejetted. Kenne-Belledouble roller timing chain set.

TRANSMISSION DETAILS:
*Stock parts used in rebuild with Transgo shift kit added.

FRONT SUSPENSION:

I had the very same momo wheels on my 75 alfetta gt.

1968 Myers Manx - 1985 Audi 4000 Quattro
1981 Lotus Elite - 1971 Land Rover 88
1971 E-type 2+2 - 1986 Audi Turbo Quattro Avant
1979 TVR 3000S - 1976 CitiCar

All for very different reasons.

Have had a few cars over the years. Some I sell and end up getting another one. Like I've owned over 20 Porsche 928's all versions. Also a few XJ12 and a 6 as well. With the Porsches, also owned several 944's, regular and turbo as well. The one car I miss the most and its very hard to find one is my 87 944 turbo cup car. In 87 they only imported 10 of these into the U.S. and two in Canada.


The cup version was a special for racing, Porsche needed to build 50 street versions of their race car 944 turbo to race. The street version was 500lbs lighter, had a bigger turbo, different engine management. With a chip and some tuning you could get near 400hp. Mine had the chip and straight exhaust. The stock cup did 0to60 in around 4.8 seconds. The exterior looked exactly like a regular 944 turbo. Stop light drag races, you'd smoke even Vipers and they'd be like what just happened. It was a sleeper.


Back in 98 paid a slight premium over a regular turbo. Now they go for between $75k and up to a little over $100k with no race history.
