I need to have my 2003 X-type 2.5 engine replaced.
I have a quote of $1600 for labor only I found a used motor w/75000mi for 1200 shipped.
Does anyone know if this a reasonable quote for labor.

 

I am having it done for $1,200.00 - $1,400.00 as the new motor didn't arrive with the harness.
My 99 XK8 Convertible is in shop now. Old motor is out and the timing chain, upper and lower guides and water pump are being updated on new motor.
Where are you getting the motor?
There are a lot of bad motors being cleaned and sold.
The average price for a good 4.0 motor with 60-70,000 miles is 2,500-2,600.00 from a reliable seller. I saw a lot of motors at the $1,500.00 price, I was told not to trust it.
I bought one with 61,000 miles and a 3 year 36,000 mile warrantee as long as it is installed by a reputable shop.
You don't want to buy another bad motor and loose that labor.
I am in Long Island and the shop I am using has done over 50 engine and engine tranny replacements. Great shop called Jagpro in Bellmore N.Y.
I get my car back this Wed-Thurs.
