I am looking for a nav unit for my 2000 SType and this looks great. Can you answer the following questions:

1. Can the unit control the stock glove compartment CD changer?
2. Does the mute button on the steering wheel work?
3. Did you use an adapter for the wiring harness and if so, what make/model/part#?

ManI just finished installing my AVIC-D3 in my2000S-type....I really like the stereoI even installed a JL audioampand Sub ...The only sucky thing is the GPS antenna that i had to install for the unit....I wishI could splice into the FactoryGPS antenna and use it instead.....If anyone wants pics or tips let me know!!.

 

Just a data point for those doing audio upgrades. I recently replaced the stock unit on my '05 S-Type with a Pioneer DEH-P7000BT + Sirius SC-C1/CD-SB10 and a PAC SWI-PS. The Metra 99-9500 bezel is close to, but not quite as dark as, the rest of the console.

I don't know what standard was used for the cage, but it isn't DIN, and I made standoffs to mount the Pioneer radio. The wiring harness was custom, I used a handful of molex connectors and crimped everything, which worked quite well. I also made a little three-way power adapter to run the head unit, PAC, and Sirius gear.

The SWI-PS is smart enough to do different things in different modes, which I thought was pretty clever. Programming it was a snap, use mode 3, the white wire from the PAC, and the black/white wire on pin 10 of the original radio plug.

No fancy amps or anything, the P7000BT is no powerhouse but drives the stock speakers enough for my use.

I've temporarily mounted the USB and AUX stereo plug in the center console while I decide if that's where I really want them. The Bluetooth microphone is mounted just behind the steering wheel.

So far no surprises, the install was prety simple and the result is nice and clean. I originally thought of using the double-DIN Pioneer FHP8000BT, and still think it would look nice in the console.

Hello (I will check in on new members board) but wanted to post here first.

Have an 05 S-Type R since 3 days ago. No blue-tooth wireless or phone.

Question:

Can I replace the smaller (looks like a narrow 1 DIN) area where the single CD and volume *** are? It looks like there is a Nexxia FP-14-01 Fascia adaptor. I would put a Pio AVH-P6300BT if that would work?

If not, I was planning this:

1) Metra 70-9500 Harness
2) Metra 99-9501B Dash kit
3) Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT
4) Axxess ASWC Steering wheel control interface

Appreciate any advice.
